An historic farmhouse set deep within the East Devon AONB and just 7 miles from the coast, Sutton Barton Farmhouse offers so much more than charm and good looks. The aces up the sleeve are its excellent facilities, onsite entertainment that is just perfect for bringing family/friends together after the adventures of a busy day.
A superbly furnished games room offers amusement for both young and old, boasting a full size snooker table, pool table, table tennis table, skittle alley, a large 50" television, a generous lounge area and bar. A tournament night is a must! Outside there is an adjacent BBQ area along with 2 six seater hot tubs and a sauna. Why not indulge in some beauty treatments from a mobile therapist? Children will love the acre of garden with sunken trampoline, climbing frame, swings, slides and a sandpit.
The farmhouse is situated on a working farm in the Blackdown Hills - you can ask for a tour if you wish! The building dates from the C16th and is full of charm and character. The sitting room and dining rooms, with their large fire places and dark beams are wonderful rooms for entertaining. All 16 can fit around the grand dining table, but there is a small breakfast room adjacent to the kitchen for breakaway groups. The kitchen is spacious, flagstoned and fully fitted with electric range with a gas hob, a microwave oven, a large fridge freezer, and 2 dishwashers. The utility room hosts a washing machine and tumble dryer. All 6 of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms/shower rooms. Antique French beds in each of the double bedrooms bring a touch of continental elegance.
If you can tear yourself away from the farmhouse, the surrounding area offers plenty to see and do. The stunning Jurassic Coast is just 7 miles away and there are plenty of picturesque fishing villages and attractive coastal towns to explore; Seaton (7.3 miles), Beer (7.8 miles), Sidmouth (12.6 miles), Branscombe (7.7 miles), and Lyme Regis (12 miles).
Watersport opportunities of course abound and you could attempt a spot of deep sea fishing. Foodies will head straight for River Cottage HQ, but there are many other delightful cafes, restaurants and pubs to discover.
Kids (of all ages) will love going fossil hunting at Charmouth and Pecorama, Seaton Tramway, Honiton Play Dome, Crealy Adventure Park, Axe Valley Wildlife Park and the Donkey Sanctuary at Salcombe are all within easy reach. Further afield the National Parks of Dartmoor and Exmoor are both about an hour away.
