Lower Widdicombe Farm, which is two miles from Beesands, is a fabulous house for getting together with those you love and enjoying a special occasion or simple time together. Itís a 19th century farmhouse, now beautiful accommodation for friends and family to enjoy. There are sea glimpses from all the windows which face the front. The decor is stylish yet homely and thereís plenty of space for everyone to spread out.
Enter by the front door into the hall with practical slate floor. Snuggle down beside the woodburner in the cosy living room with TV/DVD for entertainment, or gather at the heart of the house which is the generous farmhouse kitchen/dining room from which French windows lead to a terrace. At one end of the kitchen a long bespoke oak table with benches is a lovely place to dine beside the woodburner or snuggle down in the comfy chairs. At the other end of the room, a beautiful hand-built kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, electric range oven/induction hob, drinks fridge and double sink.
The place for discarding muddy boots and soggy coats and dogs is the large bright boot room with its original practical slate floor and the original well reminding us of a fascinating less luxurious past. A big games room with table tennis, table football, TV/DVD and sofas is a great place to spread out and have fun on a rainy day. If you feel the need to be domestic, the utility room is well equipped with a washing machine and tumble drier.
There are eight bedrooms here, including a smart downstairs double with an en suite shower-room (suite) and a double in the loft with a shower-room and great views. The other six bedrooms are on the first floor Ė two double with en suite shower-rooms and three twin rooms which share a smart shower-room and a beautiful bathroom.
The heating runs off an eco-friendly biomass boiler and the water is pure spring water. If youíd like meals cooked for you, professional caterers can be easily arranged to come to the house. Dogs are welcome here, but you are asked to keep them in the kitchen or boot room.
The house is a mile by road from the sea, at the end of Ĺ mile of private drive along which tractors occasionally trundle. Itís a very peaceful setting, surrounded by 280 acres of lush South Devon farmland. There are footpaths around the grounds, including one leading in Ĺ mile to the Coast Path and the beach. At the front of the house is a south-facing terrace on which there are picnic tables with amazing views over the farm to the coast. Itís the perfect place to enjoy sunny afternoons and peaceful sundowners. Beyond that is a wide grassy expanse where children can run and play.
