Sleeps 29 Total
A spectacular Georgian rectory, on the West Dorset coast, which sleeps large groups from 14 up to 29. The decor of the house is in keeping with its period, and the owners have tried to marry comfort with the atmosphere of a traditional country rectory.
It is a listed grade II* building, set in grounds of about one and a half acres, with large lawns and flower gardens to the east and south, suitable for croquet and knockabout tennis games. Beyond the gardens is a beautiful valley with views to the sea.
The Old Rectory has 11 bedrooms altogether, each one spacious and comfortable. Four have super king size beds. One has a king size four-poster; three are twin rooms; and three are antique standard doubles. There are also a few extra beds (one futon and two singles) which can be used in any bedroom.
A large group of friends or family can relax together in the very large drawing room which has a grand piano, a large flat screen TV and a video/dvd player. The dining room is also lovely and big and looks out onto a charming, canopied verandah where, on sunny days, guests can laze in Lloyd Loom chairs amongst the roses.
Other rooms include a library with a quarter-size billiard table; a breakfast room; and a small but fully functional utility kitchen in the old Georgian pantry with a large range-style gas cooker, two large fridges, a freezer, a dishwasher and an automatic washing machine.
It is located in an area of Dorset that is designated as being of outstanding natural beauty and is ideal for long walks or a relaxed seaside holiday. It is about a mile and a half to the sea and there are a variety of beaches to choose from, ranging from sandy beaches at West Bay and Lyme Regis to small coves at Eype and Seatown.
