Cardsmill Farm Holidays is situated near the village of Whitchurch Canonicorum in a peaceful, picturesque part of the Marshwood Vale within an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Jurassic Coastline of Charmouth and Lyme Regis on the West Dorset Coast is approx. 3-5 miles so you are perfectly placed to explore.
The local church in Whitchurch Canonicorum has its own patron saint buried in a tomb within the Church, and is noted for its healing powers. The Five Bells has an excellent reputation for a friendly pub that does meals and outside catering. During the year there are many activities in the Village Hall and a children’s play area behind the hall open to all. There are many places to visit locally including the The Chesil Beach towards Abbotsbury with the Swannery, Children’s farm and Gardens, Weymouth, the historic county town of Dorchester, Forde Abbey House & Gardens, Beer model railway, caves and fishing village, Seaton Tramway, watch the wildlife in the Axe Estuary, visit the Donkey Sanctuary. The market towns of Axminster and Bridport and the port of Westbay(Broadchurch). Walking is very popular along the coastal path to Golden Cap the highest point of the South Coast, or up to Pilsdon Pen one of the highest inland hills for spectacular views. Lots of local footpaths to explore, to the woods or along the River Char, Lamberts Castle, Charmouth Forest, Stonebarrow Hill and Langdon Woods are all places to park and walk or admire the views. Horse riding, golf, swimming, fossil hunting, seaside sports and fishing all local.
We offer 3 Self Catering properties Taphouse Farmhouse at Taphouse Farm, Courthouse Farmhouse and Dairy at Courthouse Farm .The main farm is Cardsmill with land at Taphouse and Courthouse all joining on the main farm.
Taphouse Farmhouse is a large detached stone and brick-built house with a slate roof. The garden is of approximately 0.5 acre with lawns, flower beds and apple trees are all within a garden fence; but the part around the entrance gate and door is walled in making it extra safe for small children. There is a large stoned patio area with garden furniture, a charcoal barbecue and a HOT TUB which is undercover on a decked area. Plenty of parking beside the house and games barn. There are 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, large kitchen/diner, lounge and conservatory.
Courthouse Dairy is a single storey barn conversion from the obsolete cow stall and dairy at Courthouse Farm. All the original beams and trusses have been preserved and incorporated in the ceilings and the old windows and doors have been replaced by wooden stained doors and wooden windows with double glazing. A wood burning stove with a large red brick fireplace installed for the ‘olde worlde’ feel. The house has 4 bedrooms and 3 bath/shower rooms, an easy modern well equipped kitchen, dining area/conservatory and lounge. It has a private stoned patio area with garden chairs, tables and a bbq and the lawn which is fenced and safe for children. Plenty of safe off road parking. NEW HOT TUB undercover on a decked area in the garden.
Courthouse Farmhouse is an ‘L’ shaped chalet bungalow that has wonderful country views, its own private garden with lawn and some mature trees, parking and grounds. The lawn is fenced by wooden rails and wire fence to keep children and dogs in and sheep and cattle out. In the garden there are chairs, tables and a barbecue. The property has 5 bedrooms and 3 bath/shower rooms, well equipped kitchen/diner, conservatory and lounge. Off road parking and NEW Private hot tub in the Games Barn.
Courthouse properties can be let together for large groups of 22.
