Rounceval Townhouse & Spa, built in the reign of King Charles II in 1670 sits at the top of the high street in the charming and lively market town of Chipping Sodbury and the house is perfectly located for sophisticated hen weekends and corporate breaks. It sleeps 16+ in 6 bedrooms, all en-suite. There is a hand built, subterranean Roman Spa with ambient lighting and fountain, which has been created in the Tudor cellars of the house.
Built on the site of an older house, Rounceval Townhouse is a detached, Carolean property with fabulous original features and an interesting history having once been the residence of the Lord of the Manor and thus one of the principal houses in the town.
The guest accommodation is set over four floors. As is customary during this period, the principal rooms are on the first floor and it is here that you will find the stunning sitting room with seating for 16 guests, with TV and sound system. The spacious dining room with huge table which is large enough for the whole group is adjacent and the kitchen is fully equipped with double oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, large larder fridge, Nespresso coffee machine and ice maker.
The six luxuriously designed en-suite bedrooms sleep 16+ guests and there is a twin, pullout captains bed in the sitting room for two extra people.
The rooms have been beautifully decorated to reflect their themes:
The crystal room with chandeliers and a wall of mirrors, the French room with huge sleigh bed, the King’s Suite with interconnecting rooms and a magnificent Louis XIV bed, Ophelia, furnished in Gothic style and the Squire’s Room.
The Roman Spa is a large, stone hot tub with ambient lighting and sounds and a fountain in the style of an underground Roman garden.
2 night break with weekend package (including Friday supper or cocktail masterclass & return taxi into Bath or Bristol)
£175 per person.
