With a fabulous central location in the picturesque castle town of Middleham, this elegant Manor provides a spacious and luxurious country house retreat for those looking for 'heart’ as well as grandeur.

Lovingly restored and refurbished, this beautiful property feels every inch the much loved family home that it has been for centuries. Family portraits adorn the walls, the library is stocked with antique books and a desk in the bay window looks out over the gardens.

High windows give rooms plenty of light and that quintessential Georgian character. There are period features aplenty, furnishings are of high quality and the house is peppered with antiques and art. Bedrooms are large and full of character; most have zip and link king or supersize beds, all are dressed with quality linens.

The welcoming house keeper will help you settle in and can assist with any queries. Enquire about private chefs, caterers, beauticians, babysitters, and taxi services as guests can often enjoy special discount rates.

There is plenty to entertain the troops. The magnificent billiard room will be a popular choice for evening entertainment. Children will enjoy their own playroom, which is well stocked with toys and games. Outside there are 3 acres of romantic walled garden to explore – who will discover the doorway through to the church?

Middleham is a small and attractive town with a magnificent brooding castle ruin at its heart. Nowadays the town is famed for its racing stables – there are 15 training yards in the area. There are plenty of independent shops, pubs and restaurants within a short walk of the house.

The surrounding countryside is perfect for walkers and cyclists. The spectacular limestone scenery of the Dales is one of high moor, plunging waterfalls, wooded valleys and hay meadows. Discover bathing pools in the rivers, journey below ground to discover labyrinthine caves and caverns. Those seeking thrills can take part on paragliding and rock climbing or head to Thirsk for watersports.

For a traditional country house weekend you could indulge in some country pursuits - game and clay pigeon shooting and horse riding are locally available. Have a day at the races – you will be spoilt for choice with courses at Thirsk, Rippon, Catterick and York.
