About this property

Silk Willoughby 1 mile. This detached stone-built property is set in a quiet rural location in open countryside, close to the village of Silk Willoughby and just four miles from Sleaford in Lincolnshire. With spacious rooms throughout, Grange Farm Cottage is ideal for families as it was originally two separate dwellings which means that there are two separate staircases. The generously-sized main sitting room is comfortably furnished, with a large open fireplace and a bay window with views across the fields. There is a lovely country-style kitchen which is conveniently connected to a separate dining room, offering plenty of space for a large family or group of friends to gather around the period table and swap stories. Upstairs, the four bedrooms are bright and airy with countryside views in all directions, plus two rooms each have their own en-suite bathroom. Outside, the large wrap-around garden is mainly lawned with a patio area next to the side of the building, ideal for a barbecue. The garden is fully enclosed, providing a safe environment for children. A walk down the country lane brings you to a local inn The Horseshoes, whilst nearby Sleaford with its dramatic church spire, offers a selection of excellent cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. This character property is ideal for exploring the County of Lincolnshire with it many attractions and historic market towns or you may wish to explore the beautiful city of Lincoln for some retail therapy or visit the magnificent Cathedral. A little further afield, the coastal resort of Skegness offers plenty of traditional seaside entertainment for all the family. The relatively flat Fens are perfect cycling and walking country and for further excitement, golf enthusiasts will love the championship course at Woodhall Spa. Alternatively, spend the day at Burghley House with its collection of Chinese ceramics and Italian art whilst RAF Coningsby hosts the Battle of Britain air show every year. An excellent property for a varied and interesting holiday.

There were a few things inside that let it down, one of the bedside lights in the twin room flickers, the ensuite to that room had a bulb out, some of the items we used from the pantry needed to be washed before we could use them and the general cleanliness of the cottage was dubious. However this did not takeaway the enjoyment of our holiday and if you had continued to take dogs we would have definitely stayed with you again

We found it comfortable, beautifully warm and stunning garden, wildlife and skies! We were touched by milk, fruit cake, coffee and tea being provided - after a seven hour journey they were most welcome. The doubled bed mattresses were super comfortable. Couple of minor suggestions: Provide more than one key. More toilet rolls. Bedside lamp in room with single beds flickers - bulb? Thank you for being great hosts x
