Inside The Old Shippon, discover an array of bright, contemporary interiors that have been thoughtfully-designed to retain a rustic, farmhouse feel, with solid wood floors and beams a key presence throughout the home. Enjoy time with your loved ones in the open-plan living space, a fabulous setting and the true social hub of the property that houses a fully-equipped kitchen with integrated appliances, a dining table and breakfast bar, and a sitting area with a plush sofa and a sleek Smart TV, or head out to the rear garden where you can enjoy some alfresco dining on the outside furniture. For further relaxation, head to the sitting room to curl up on the large corner sofa whilst you watch a film or two. Here, impressive floor-to-ceiling windows welcome in an abundance of natural light, as well as offer views out to the front garden and views over open fields. When the sun sets, head to one of three decadent bedrooms, selecting between a king-size, double, and a twin, all of which feature crisp linens and their very own en-suite bath or shower room. If you can tear yourself from your tranquil new base, head out to explore what's in store in Barbon and beyond. A brief stroll into the village centre will bring you to The Churchmouse at Barbon, a lovely café where you can indulge in a soothing cup of tea, the Barbon Inn, a pub popular with locals serving up traditional British cuisine, as well as the peaceful grounds of St Bartholomew's Church, set near the banks of shimmering Barbon Beck. A drive south from Barbon will bring you to two golf clubs, the Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club and the Casterton Golf Course, on your journey to bustling Kirkby Lonsdale, a historic town resting on the River Lune, home to the attractions of the Radical Steps, the Devil's Bridge, Stanley Bridge, and Summerfield House. You'll also find a selection of independent pubs and restaurants in town, including the Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery, The Orange Tree and also Number 9, a local tapas and wine bar. For a day out, head to uncover the boundless delights spread across the Yorkshire Dales National Park, whether that's snapping shots of the Ribblehead Viaduct, experiencing nature at the Cauldron Falls, hiking along the scenic Gordale Scar, or viewing jaw-dropping rock formations within Ingleborough Cave. All of this and more is waiting for you with a stay at The Old Shippon.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".

We are already going to book again for next year. Great having the separate lounge where we sent the men to watch football whilst us girls had some female time. Kitchen was well equipped and a bonus of a bottle of wine and milk to greet us. A real bonus having an ensuite for each bedroom. (No sharing facilities) and a separate toilet. We had a disabled person with us so the downstairs bedroom was essential. Short walk to the pub for a great Saturday night meal. Didn't have time to visit the cafe/bistro but it looked good. Short drive to Kirby Lonsdale and all it has to offer. Would highly recommend. We will be back. Thank you to our lovely hosts.

The large comfortable cottage was everything we hoped it would be and had everything we needed for a delightful Christmas break. The hosts Mark and Lynne were on hand if we needed them and welcomed us on arrival. There were Christmas trees and decorations and we had an excellent family Christmas holiday and hope to return in the future.

We had such a comfortable stay here and the property had everything you could possibly need. Lynne and Mark were such kind and considerate hosts. They left us some really lovely flap jack's and a bottle of wine, along with some goodies for my daughter and the dog, which went down a treat after our long journey. They also set up a bed for the dog and a water and food bowl for her, which was so unexpected but really appreciated! Thank you so much! The village was so picturesque and very quiet. We only met a few people here and there on our dog walks but everyone we ran into was so friendly and welcoming. We would definitely come back to stay in the future and would highly recommend the house to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in a beautiful house! Thanks again!
