From here, throw open the patio doors to discover your private garden area, where you and your loved ones can dine alfresco whilst soaking up the views of the river and the charming village. As the evening draws to a close, venture up the staircase to find four well-presented bedrooms to choose from, each designed to ensure a tranquil setting to retire to each evening. On the first-floor you will find a king-size bedroom with an en-suite shower and a twin bedroom (zip/link beds), whilst the second floor houses a king-size bedroom which is accessed through a twin bedroom. From the doorstep of the cottage you will find a number of walking and cycling routes to enjoy on the Peak National Park, with varied walks to suit all ages and tastes. For those seeking a challenge there is Kinder Plateau, Pennine Way and Snake Path, while the Sett Valley Trail offers a gentle stroll for families. Alternatively, a short drive will bring you to the villages and towns of Buxton, Castleton and Bakewell, as well as the historic houses of Chatsworth and Lyme Park to brush up on the local history. River Cottage Hayfield is a superb base for bringing together a group to explore this picturesque location.

The delightful High Peak village of Hayfield is situated in a wonderful rural setting on the north western edge of the Peak National Park. It’s a peaceful little village, popular with walkers who are attracted by its close proximity to Kinder Scout. Serious walkers head east out of the village, up and over the green foothills to the russet expanse of the Kinder Plateau, Pennine Way and Snake Path, whilst families (and those who enjoy more gentle rambles) head west along the beautiful Sett Valley Trail towards New Mills. Edale – an alternative start of the Pennine Way - is only a few miles away. The village caters well for tourists with pubs, cafes and restaurants. Other local attractions include the Goyt Valley, Castleton – with its famous caverns - and the popular spa town of Buxton.
