Between the magnificent cathedral city of Canterbury and the port town of Sandwich is the charming Kent village of Wingham. Wingham has long been a popular tourist destination due to its rural setting. The village's mix of thatched cottages, mediaeval hall houses, and attractive Georgian structures gives it an incredibly distinctive appearance that is guaranteed to draw visitors. Tourists will be spoiled for choice when searching for a quick lunch or a full evening supper along the tree-lined high street. The Dog Inn, which was previously a coaching inn and dates back to the 13th century, offers traditional dishes made using products that may be found nearby. Real ales and frequent live music performances, such as jazz afternoons, are available at The Anchor. Wingham Wildlife Park, which is open every day of the week, is less than half a mile from the settlement. It has ponds, aviaries, animal enclosures, a pet village, a picnic area, a play area with adventures, and even an animal hospital. The adjoining Goodnestone Park Gardens are another must-see destination. The 14-acre grounds, which Jane Austen frequently visited, are regarded as some of the best in the South East. Why not take a stroll and enjoy the woodland walk, which looks out over the village cricket pitch and has an arboretum, a gravel garden and a wonderful collection of old trees? Make your way to Howletts Wild Animal Park, which is less than four miles away, for a fantastic family outing where you can view more than 50 different types of animals. When the parents take a well-earned break, the kids can burn off some energy in the play area where you can stroll with lemurs or observe tigers and gorillas. Every time of year is ideal for a holiday in Wingham.

And other places in Kent .

Situated centrally for visiting Kent’s coastal towns and the lovely historic Canterbury. Property is set in a very rural and quiet location where the only sound you can hear are the birds. Highly recommended.

It wasn’t the easiest to find down narrow country lanes but walking in through the door there was a real wow factor. The barn had everything we needed and was much larger than we expected. It was quality throughout and we can’t recommend it highly enough. It initially seemed a little remote but turned out to be well situated to get to all the main towns, beaches and attractions of this part of Kent. My wife and I will definitely be returning…and don’t let the idea of being part of a working farm put you off. It was as peaceful as you could possibly want and we were unaware of any farm activity throughout the stay. 5* all the way
