If you love historic houses and gardens, take a day trip to Dartmouth Castle or Bayard’s Cove Fort, dating back to the Tudor era, it was the last line of defence against enemy ships and now sits picturesquely at the entrance to Dartmouth Harbour. The captivating sights of Blackpool Sands and Compass Valley lie only a short distance from here, with walking paths that expand across the coastline so you can enjoy the breath-taking sea views with a picnic. For thrill- seekers, venture further on to Totnes where you can find Woodlands Family Theme Park, likewise the neighbouring town Paignton boasts of its impressive pier, Fairy Cove, and Paignton Zoo Environmental Park. Dartmouth is located in the popular and attractive South Hams region of South Devon, along the banks of the picturesque River Dart estuary. Dartmouth is one of the most well-liked tourist sites in Devon because of its location in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and proximity to the shore. It boasts a beautiful waterfront, historic, winding alleys lined with quaint shops, eateries, and art galleries, as well as a variety of regional events like the yearly Dart Music Festival, the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, and the October Dartmouth Food Festival. The Dart Valley Trail, the South West Coast Path, and several peaceful rural lanes are just a few of the intriguing cycling and walking paths that can be found in and around Dartmouth.
