About this property

Find this unique riverside cottage nestled in the charming village of Maiden Newton, providing a restful base for couples, friends or families looking to escape to the Dorset Countryside. Riverside 67 Dorchester Road is sat in a dreamy location overlooking the flowing waters of the River Frome, boasting a relaxing riverside setting where you can enjoy many an hour in the peaceful surroundings. On entering, hang up your coats and prepare for a cosy night in, letting the chef of the group rustle up a hearty meal in the well-equipped kitchen before gathering around the dining table for a night of wine and laughs. Once the plates have been cleared away in the dishwasher, retire to the homely sitting room for a family film night in front of the crackling woodburning stove, sitting in a quirky Inglenook fireplace. Alternatively, spend a night in your very own private courtyard observing and listening to the riverside wildlife. As the evening draws to a close, find the inviting bedrooms upstairs, comprising a double room, a single with a truckle bed, and a master king-size with idyllic countryside views and its own en-suite shower room. The rest of the rooms are served by a spacious bathroom where you can unwind with a relaxing soak in the freestanding bath or choose to step inside the gorgeous walk-in shower to wake up. Make use of the river right on the property's doorstep, perfect for fly fishing for those illusive brown trout that do not want to be caught. The bustling village centre of Maiden Newton welcomes you as you leave the front door, with a good selection of shops including a well stocked local village store, a pub as well as a convenient train station so you can easily explore the excitement of the surrounding area without a car. Explore the nearby beaches along the seafront just a scenic drive away, spending a day at the quiet village of Burton Bradstock with golden sands and hidden coves, or head along to Bridport Harbour and West Bay Beach for a classic day at the seaside. Weymouth is filled to the brim with exciting attractions including a picture-perfect beach, colourful huts, the popular SEA LIFE Centre and the renowned Sandworld attractions, as well as a wealth of shopping, pubs, restaurants and bars to choose from. More local attractions include the Fleet Lagoon, Abbotsbury Swannery, Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens, and the incredible town of Lyme Regis, which hosts the Dinosaurland Fossil Museum, Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium, and the Lyme Regis Museum. Make sure to take a trip out to the Isle of Portland for a memorable experience, or adventurers can relish in the choices of walking, cycling and hiking opportunities around the Dorset AONB, whilst the town of Dorchester is the perfect spot to immerse yourself in culture. Enjoy a refreshing break with your loved ones at Riverside 67 Dorchester Road.

There was only one very large saucepan without a lid. Wanted to cook pasta for my little granddaughter and there was nothing to cook it in. Many of the drawers have random items such as a paintbrush or ‘stuff’ not relevant to a kitchen. On a smaller issue, the outside courtyard could do with updating…it could be so very pretty. The garden furniture is in need of attention

It was so well equipped, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Claire next door was very helpful and welcoming and the owners were quick to respond if needed.

Not our first visit, and it won’t be the last. Not a criticism at all, but the TV has the most baffling remote possible; immensely entertaining trying to figure out how it worked!
