About this property

Perched in the heart of the bustling market town of Winchcombe, sits this beautiful Grade ll listed, Cotswold stone holiday home, Fleur de Lys. This elegant property is the perfect choice for a relaxing break in one of the hidden jewels of the Cotswolds, for a family or gathering of friends.

You are welcomed into the wonderful living/dining room, where there is space to hang your coats and store your shoes just beside the front door, with an abundance of character features including exposed Cotswold stone walls and exposed wooden beams, making it a real homely room for you and your loved ones to relax sunk into the large corner sofa and bean bags, as the gas stove keeps the room lovely and warm.

Prepare and cook heart-warming meals in the tastefully decorated kitchen and gather with your guests around the wooden dining table to indulge in your meals and uncork a bottle of wine to celebrate the start of your holiday.

Look forward to snuggling down on a cold evening in the sitting room that is flooded with natural light from the lovely glass roof lantern, which enjoys views overlooking the garden.

When sleep calls, a choice of four stunning bedrooms await upstairs; the first-floor hosts the king-size master bedroom and a double bedroom, both elegantly presented with gorgeous character features and the second-floor hosts a twin room and a double room, in the eaves of the property, which also has a charming exposed chimney breast and views over the rooftops.

In the morning, enjoy a long soak in the roll-top bath in the bathroom, or an invigorating shower in the shower room, before heading downstairs to make you and your party awakening beverages using the Nespresso coffee machine, to be enjoyed in the fresh country air outside in the lovely enclosed garden, where you will find a patio area with an outdoor tap, perfect for washing down mucky dogs, and Cotswold stone steps leading up to the lawn area which is bordered by mature shrubs and pretty flowers, with a charcoal barbecue available to guests in summer months!

Fleur de Lys is situated in the vibrant market town of Winchcombe, an ancient Saxon town with impressive architecture, independent shops, cafes, country inns and fine dining restaurants.

Known as the walking capital of the Cotswolds, there are countless footpaths on its doorstep, many of which incorporate sections of the Cotswold Way long distance walking trail which covers over 100 miles of spectacular countryside. In addition to stunning scenery, the town is also home to a variety of tourist attractions including the historic Sudeley Castle and the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, which makes a stop in Winchcombe to pick up passengers on its 28-mile round trip.

Winchcombe is well-placed for visiting the many wonderful villages and towns of the North Cotswolds such as Broadway, home to Broadway Tower, an iconic landmark, as well as Stow-on-the-Wold, a historic market town which hosts an array of individual shops, contemporary art galleries and a Farmers’ market, held on the second and last Thursday of every month, offering lovely local produce.

The nearby regency town of Cheltenham offers a wide range of attractions, perhaps the most well-known being the Cheltenham Festival, one of the top horse racing events in the UK.

For a wonderful holiday, stay at Fleur de Lys!

The bustling Fairtrade town of Winchcombe, a conservation site, lies above the River Isbourne, midway between Cheltenham and Broadway. Visitors can sample a mouthwatering array of local produce in the town's restaurants, wine bars, tea shops and deli's, or stroll around the eclectic range of local shops, all located along the three main streets, which remain full of character with their honey coloured stone and timbered exterior. The town also plays host to music and arts festivals, country shows and farmers’ markets. Guided walks around the town are on offer throughout the summer months, while Winchcombe lies on the intersection of the Cotswold Way, Gloucestershire Way, Warden's Way and Windrush Way, providing ample walking to suit all abilities. The quintessential English village of Broadway is just a short drive away and offers individual shops and boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and hotels, including the world-renowned Lygon Arms, popular for centuries and now offering spa facilities. The regency spa town of Cheltenham boasts beautiful Georgian architecture and a delightful range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, pubs and visitor attractions, including the famous racecourse. Many unspoilt Cotswold towns and villages lie to the east, whilst to the west is the waterfront city of Gloucester and the magnificent Royal Forest of Dean. The beautiful World Heritage city of Bath, Shakespeare's birthplace of Stratford-upon-Avon, and Warwick, with its magnificent castle, are all within an hour’s drive.

I phoned customer services with my concern for our imminent stay. I was contacted & reassured that the owners & housekeeping team were making changes. We had a lovely stay, the location was good to explore the Cotswolds, nice shops & places to eat within walking distance. The property was clean, tidy and essentials were provided. There is plenty of comfy seating in the lounge areas, the additional 2 dining chairs we needed to sit 8 and eat were in the bedrooms. New carpet/fridge, fresh paint was noted and a nice soak was enjoyed in the slipper bath tub! I believe improvements are ongoing, so just a couple of points we had were that the BBQ (we didn't use) needs a good clean, one night was chilly & we were unable to light the fire, a vacuum under the sofas by fire is in need! We enjoyed visiting the area and would not hesitate to stay at Fleur De Lys in the future.

In general the place looks very tired in comparison to the photos. It is also super dusty to the point that it was not pleasant to stay and sit in the house. As a minimum it needs new carpets and couches throughout. If the dust issue was resolved, we might consider staying here again. Disappointed with the kitchen amenities. Also disappointed that no toilet paper was supplied in any of the toilets. We were skeptical of other negative reviews posted for this place, however in hindsight they were clearly not just annoying complainers.

Firstly, the house was freezing when we arrived and the Hive control was not functioning. We had to replace the batteries. Secondly, the carpet in the extension looks dreadful, is damaged and needs to be replaced. Thirdly, we discovered that the shower in the larger bathroom didn't drain properly. Fourthly, the toilet in the smaller shower room was broken and didn't flush.
