About this property

Hereford 4.8 miles. Built in the 1800s, 4 Wallflower Row is a quaint cottage with ample amenities, nestled into the rural village of Mordiford, near Hereford, and welcomes a family or a group of friends looking to explore Herefordshire. Upon entering the property, be welcomed into a charming sitting room with wooden beams and an electric fire stove, ideal for reclining with a coffee as you plan the day ahead of you. When mealtimes call, a well-fitted contemporary kitchen houses a whole host of amenities to cater to your culinary needs, as well as a dining table, two stylish armchairs and access to the rear garden via patio doors, making this a light and airy social hub for guests to enjoy. Outside, enjoy a tipple in the sunshine as you reflect on the day, with the sounds of the river flowing by. Three well-presented bedrooms encourage you to snuggle up for the night, each one with tasteful furniture and storage for all of your belongings, including a king-size, a small double and a single. The property is situated at the start of the Mordiford Dragon Trail, providing scenic walking through beautiful landscapes formed by rivers, orchard and wooded hills. Mordiford is a hamlet nestled into the countryside of Herefordshire, with walks beside the River Lugg, a local pub, The Moon Inn, and access to the stunning scenery of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Here there are walks at King Arthur’s Cave, Goodrich Castle and Monmouth Golf Course where you can try out a game or two. For more amenities and attractions, head over to the city of Hereford, where you will find loads of quaint shops, tasty eateries, pubs, cafes and convenience stores for you to stock up on essentials. Hereford is also home to the Black and White house Museum, Waterworks Museum, Castle Green and the Museum of Cider, ideal for history enthusiasts. All of this and so much more with a stay at the lovely 4 Wallflower Row.

The cathedral city of Hereford dates back to Saxon times, and with its medieval bridge over the winding River Wye it is the very image of picturesque England. With a mix of buildings from almost every British era, eclectic Hereford is a popular base for those seeking to explore the locale – being ideally placed for accessing the Black and White villages of the region, not to mention the delights of neighbouring Shropshire, Worcestershire and The Cotswolds. Famous as a cider producing town, Hereford is also the home of the Mappa Mundi, the largest and most elaborate pre-15th century map in existence, which resides in the cathedral alongside the famous Chained Library – a collection of over 1500 rare books from as early as the 8th century. Nearby is the half timbered town of Leominster, filled with medieval buildings, often overhanging the street, and also accessible is the natural splendour of Symonds Yat, a rocky outcrop on a 5 mile bend of the River Wye, with spectacular views and the opportunity to spot protected peregrine falcons flying from their nests.

Lots of details made us feel very welcomed. Walking in area is great and highly recommend The Moon Inn.

They even provided a bed, treats and toys for the dog! The owners were easy to contact and were so helpful. They left a hamper of essentials and a few treats too, which was more than welcome after a long drive. The garden is secure for a small dog. We wouldn’t hesitate to book this holiday cottage again.
