The neighbouring village of Embsay is home to a local village shop and a pub, both within walking distance of the cottage, while the bustling town of Skipton is where the action is, with Skipton Castle well worth visiting to see this almost intact medieval fortress up close, as well as dungeons, kitchens and bedchambers. Hop on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway for a scenic ride through some of Yorkshire's finest countryside on a vintage steam train with afternoon tea available, signal box experiences and even gin tastings, it's a perfect day out! When you reach Bolton Abbey you can begin a walk up to Bolton Priory to see these striking church ruins on the riverside, continuing on up to The Strid for an extra walk. Go deeper into the Dales and visit the unique rock formation of Malham Cove, an incredible cliff top overlooking a valley making for dramatic views from both the top of the rock and the base, perhaps following Hawthorns Lane down to Janet's Foss afterwards, a beautiful waterfall. Appletreewick, Grassington, Kettlewell and Conistone are all delightful villages along the Wharfe Valley worth stopping in at for refreshments during your outings too! Make wonderful memories in the Yorkshire Dales from the beautiful Bridgend Cottage.

I loved hearing the waterfall & river on waking up each day! Great walks from the cottage and easy driving distance to Malham Cove and other stunning local attractions. Simon was extremely helpful & friendly, responding very promptly & efficiently to my text. We had a great holiday and will definitely return.

We must go back in warmer weather to enjoy the beck that runs from a small waterfall across the street! We have stayed at many rentals, and this one ranks among the best!
