About this property

Branwen is a stylish maisonette apartment, set over the first and second floors, opposite the harbour in Porthmadog, Gwynedd. With uninterrupted views of the harbour, Welsh mountains, and the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Steam Railway line, while offering all the home comforts needed for a self-catering break, this holiday home makes the perfect base from which a couple or solo traveller can explore Wales. A designated parking space greets you, before making your way up the stairs and into your home-from-home. Unload your bags into the double bedroom, which boasts a sloping, timber ceiling creating an inviting atmosphere when it is time to rest. From here, climb the stairs to the second floor to find the shower room, complete with a walk-in shower and toasty heated towel rail, where you can prepare for your days out. Back on the first floor, the open-plan living space welcomes you to cook, dine, and unwind. With neat wooden worktops, an electric cooker, and a fridge, the kitchen has everything you need to rustle up dinner, while the dining table with ample seating is where you can savour your hard work. Finishing off the space is the sitting area, furnished with a plush pink suite, perfectly positioned to enjoy the view. The balcony completes the home, where there is an ideal perspective for watching the boats come in and out and viewing some local birds - you can even see the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Steam Railway from here! While relaxing with a cup of tea, you may notice Curlew, Teal, or Redshank on the banks, as well as Ospreys, Cormorants, or Black-tailed Godwits investigating the water's edge, while anglers fish off the wall just outside the property. When you're ready to explore the town, there are beaches, shops, and restaurants to keep you busy, as well as supermarkets to stock up on necessities. After you've seen the sites and dined at Porthmadog's restaurants, there are a number of charming places close to visit, including Harlech, Criccieth and Barmouth. Harlech, with its spectacular beachfront castle and golden dunes, is a fantastic day out for a couple or family. Barmouth, a little farther down the coast, is another welcoming town with stand-up paddle boarding and a variety of eateries to pick from. Inland, the Eryri National Park offers a variety of outdoor sports, or you may simply stroll through the beautiful park. Enjoy a break with your other half at Branwen.

The bustling harbour town of Porthmadog lies on the Glaslyn Estuary and enjoys a stunning setting. The gateway to the Snowdonia National Park, Porthmadog is full of individual shops and restaurants, and home to the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland railway where you can travel by steam through spectacular Snowdonia scenery, to Blaenau Ffestiniog or Caernarfon. The pretty village of Borth Y Gest, with its cliffs and coves, is a short walk or drive from the town. The well known and unique Italianate village of Portmeirion is just down the coast. Situated on a rugged clifftop on its own private peninsula, Portmeirion, famous as the location of the TV show The Prisoner and the final episode of Cold Feet, is surrounded by miles of sandy beaches and woodlands. The area also boasts castles at Criccieth and Harlech, and superb unspoilt beaches such as Black Rock Sands, where the sands stretch as far as the eye can see. Also within reach is the famous Zip World Slate Caverns and Bounce Below where you can get involved with a variety of activities including the thrilling zip wires and underground caverns to explore; there is something here to suit the whole family. An ideal location for the attractions of Snowdonia and the The Llyn Peninsula.
