About this property

Mathry 3.8 miles. Situated in Goodwick near the sleepy town of Mathry on the outskirts of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is this quaint cottage, Min Y Ffordd. Inviting five guests and boasting light and airy décor, open plan living spaces and a woodburning stove, Min Y Ffordd offers the perfect base from which to bask in the serenity of a retreat to South Wales. Enter your new home-from-home to discover a neatly-presented sitting room complete with Smart TV and electric fire, ideal for curling up on cooler evenings with your loved ones. Allow the designated chef to cook up a storm in a suitably-equipped kitchen, to be enjoyed at the intimate dining table in the warmth of a woodburning stove; on balmier evenings, why not step out into the enclosed garden to relish mealtimes alfresco or take advantage of the bright sunroom? Enjoy some alone time as your little ones play in the external games room hosting a pool table for inviting some healthy competition and when the night draws to a close retreat to a spacious ground-floor bathroom to indulge a soak with your favourite book in hand. Three thoughtfully-decorated bedrooms await, choose from two doubles and a single to catch your rest before exploring more of your surroundings. If you can tear yourself away, begin your day with a stroll along the nearby pebbly beach before heading to the cliffs of Carreg Samson to admire the stunning coastline and sea views. Further north, discover Strumble Head Lighthouse, or journey south to Blue Lagoon, where you’ll be blown away by the sparking azure waters! Further afield, the bustling town of Haverfordwest resides, hosting a wealth of amenities and attractions including the HaverfordWest Town Museum, Picton Castle Gardens and Scolton Manor. With the towns of Newport, and Tenby also within accessible reach by car, there is plenty to fill your days. Whatever you choose, ensure you do it from the homely base of Min Y Ffordd.

The tiny village of Mathry is situated on a hilltop on Wales' south-west coast, between the well-known towns of Fishguard and St. Davids. This settlement was previously a defensive fort in the Iron Age, strategically placed for early warnings of an enemy approach. Today, it is a tranquil village with stunning views of the St. Davids Peninsula from several locations throughout the area. The gorgeous coastline is to the west, while the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, with numerous opportunities for walking, cycling, and other activities, is to the south. A charming rural community like Mathry makes a great starting point for exploring southwest Wales.

However, we were disappointed that as soon as we entered the property there was an unpleasant smell. We also noticed that the cottage hadn't been clean thoroughly (cobwebs and dust in corners) and all the windows were dirty inside and out. We feel that the cottage would benefit from a thorough deep clean to bring it up to standard.

This was our second stay here. Fully enclosed garden enjoyed by our small canine companion. Perfectly located for exploring the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast. Very helpful owners.

The house and garden were enjoyed when preferring not to be out and about. Would recommend and hope to come again.
