Escape everyday stresses in the calming atmosphere of a grand Georgian house with all the trappings of a modern home. Darley House is an extremely large house and visitors are often taken by surprise at the size of the rooms and the house, which has a total floor space of approximately 5,000 square feet (450 square metres). There are ornate ceilings, open fires, a sweeping staircase and antique furniture throughout. With three spacious reception rooms, an enormous open plan kitchen, games room and six stylish bedrooms, Darley House caters for all generations – the perfect place for a family reunion conveniently located on the edge of the Peak District National Park.
Previous guardians of the house include Sir Joseph Paxton, designer of the Crystal Palace, and the enchanting Victorian gardens are his legacy. Create special memories of shared fun - petanque by perfumed borders, croquet on the lush lawns, or explore the Victorian pathways among the mature and specimen trees and plants. The magic and history of the house and its gardens will charm and rejuvenate the discerning guest.
Walk to the river Derwent and the quant pubs at Darley Bridge. Step back in time and climb aboard the Peak Rail steam trains. Take a short drive to Chatsworth or visit Cromford and glimpse into people's lives during the industrial revolution. Explore the stunning countryside on foot or hire bikes and tour the Monsal Trail. The Peak District has everything.
There are fabulous restaurants and pubs nearby. Or eat in at Darley House, with a fine dining private chef. Whatever special and memorable experience you are looking for we can help you create it. Email or call us to discuss your requirements.
