The Gallery is the southern wing of Eggesford Barton House, a grade II listed late C18th farmhouse in the beautiful Taw Valley.
Originally four farm workers cottages - the property now provides stylish and spacious self-catering accommodation for 12.
Arranged around a garden courtyard, the Gallery has been tastefully furnished to reflect its Georgian heritage and has a wealth of original features including charming arched windows, bread ovens in original fireplaces and exposed oak beams. Cast iron bedsteads await you in the six bedrooms - each one dressed with feather duvets & 100% white cotton bed linen.
In wet weather head for the games room - a large shared space with plenty of entertainment for both young and old alike. You will find Nintendo Wii, table tennis and pool tables, a darts board and toys for smaller children .
Outside there are 30-acres of natural woodland waiting to be explored. A short stroll away, 800 metres of river frontage on the River Taw await the keen fisherman.
Onsite entertainment can be organised by prior arrangement and includes pamper treatments and activities such as archery, clay pigeon or laser shooting.
The house sits deep in Tarka Country - a beautiful rural landscape immortalised by author Henry Williamson. The area is still very much a haven for wildlife and nearby Heywood Wood and Eggesford Forest have plenty of wonderful walks on which to explore the countryside.
For those wishing to venture further afield, the rugged delights of Dartmoor and Exmoor are both about an hour away. Beach babes and surfers should head for the sandy beaches of Saunton Sands, Woolacombe and Croyde, also within a 60 minute drive.
Larger groups can hire The Cider Press (sleeps 16) or rent the entire property, which can sleep up to 28.
Weekends from £1250
