About this property

Six-bedroom Villa Mino – with its beautifully landscaped gardens and tranquil location in Pontevedra, Galicia, northern Spain – oozes luxury. The villa is at the mouth of the Mino River – in a peaceful spot that’s perfect for some R&R. Water sports-lined beaches are just a short walk away, as are plenty of hiking routes to help you rediscover nature. Traditional vineyards are also in the villa’s immediate surrounds, so you can sample some of the best Albarino wines during your stay.

The entrance to this villa sets its regal tone – think long, tree-lined driveway, a vineyard and a big area of fruit trees, too, so there’s plenty of places for you to kick back and relax with your holiday read – or for little ones to go exploring. There’s also a large, lounger-lined swimming pool at Villa Mino, plus an alfresco dining table and barbeque space – perfect for cooking up some of the local fresh seafood. The garden’s private here, and there’s space for cars if you wish to hire one – or two.

Thanks to its sweeping floor plan – set across three floors – and six bedrooms, this villa’s ideal for families or groups of friends looking for a tranquil Spanish getaway. The bedrooms are all en-suite and one of them is on the ground floor level, which is ideal for those with limited mobility or who want some extra space. Three of the first-floor rooms have their own safes and dressing rooms, while the master suite on the second floor flaunts its own terrace and separate living area – fancy.

With its antique dark-wood furniture and artwork, this villa looks more like a stately home than a holiday villa. There’s a large living room with a fireplace and garden views, plus an office – with direct access to the outside space – and a billiard room that’s equipped with a pool table. Add a dining room, library and fully-equipped kitchen to this villa’s resume and you can see why it’s a holiday hit. When you’d to go exploring, the historic cities of Valenca and Caminha are within reach.Villa Mino is at the mouth of the Mino River in Pontevedra, Galicia. The region gives holidaymakers a very different Spanish experience compared to the likes of Barcelona and the Costas – think rugged coasts, thickly wooded countryside and bagpipes playing, instead. You can eat some of the best seafood in Europe here, too – all washed down with delicious Albarino wine. It’s a hidden gem, remaining largely off the typical tourist trail, making it an ideal destination for a peaceful retreat.

Thanks to the villa’s rural location – close to the river and the sea – there’s plenty of opportunities to get involved with outdoor activities like walking or fishing. The villa’s also near the Way of Saint James – an idyllic hiking route. The trail can take you to the Romanesque and gothic village of Tui. Take in the cathedral and churches there, before heading to the mountain of Aloia nearby – it’s the first place in Galicia to be declared a Nature Reserve. Climb to the top and you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of Vigo estuary and the Louro valley below.

Pontevedra – known for its well-preserved old town and Gothic Santa María la Mayor Basilica – is the closest city to the villa. Snap pictures of the historic churches and charming squares here, before sampling local cuisine in one of the bars and restaurants. Fresh seafood like octopus, or other Galician specialties like Empanada Gallega – a large pie usually filled with meat – are a must taste.

The Spanish and Portuguese cities of Valenca, Vilanova de Cerveira and Caminha are also close by, and make the perfect places for day trips. You could also make tracks for Vigo or Porto. Water lover? The nearest beach is just a short 10-minute drive from the villa, where you kick back on the soft sands or wade into the bath-warm waters. The villa’s surrounded by traditional vineyards, too, so not only can you sip top-notch wines, but you can join guided tours and get more clued up. The Villa
