About this property

An 18C Georgian Country Farmhouse on the outskirts of Frodsham, North Cheshire. A town which enjoys a weekly Thursday market along Main Street, with its specialist shops, popular pubs and wine bars. This historic character farmhouse is located in open countryside between Frodsham Hill and Helsby Hill, and a short walk from Frodsham Marshes and the Mersey Estuary, which attracts many people for its world renowned bird watching. Godscroft Hall stands on the site of a medieval water mill. The remains of the mill pond dam is still in evidence. The first mention of a water mill on the site dates from 1303. The mill was still in use in 1844. Godscroft Hall has been owned by The Warburton Family, who have farmed the surrounding land for four generations. All the family members live nearby. The entrance of the property leads into the large Dining Hall. The interior comprises rooms with character high ceilings or exposed oak beams. The drawing room is a lovely place to return to after a day’s outing; comfy sofas sit amidst traditional furnishings, open fire and a front-facing window welcomes in the natural light. For a cosier feel, enjoy a quiet family evening in the Snug, playing board games, watching TV, reading and chilling out. Follow the grand staircase up to the spacious master bedroom suite, passing the small library area on the top landing. The second family bedroom is just off the grand staircase and comprises king size bed with two singles.

Further along the inner landing you will find a spacious third bedroom comprising a king size bed. The family bathroom is adjacent.

All bedrooms are beautifully presented yet are attuned to the Hall’s authentic feel. Follow the back stairs down to the spacious well equipped kitchen and pantry area. There is also a downstairs cloakroom and storage area. Surrounded by farmland and a farm conservation area within a semi rural location, it is five minutes from Frodsham town centre, and is a remarkable place to visit, bringing guests a holiday to remember any time of year. Just outside the Bears Paw pub in the centre of Frodsham marks the start of the Sandstone Trail, which stretches for 34 miles past nearby Delamere Forest and on into Whitchurch, in Shropshire. The River Weaver offers towpath walks, which allow you to visit Dutton Locks, plus the famous Anderton Boat Lift further on. For the more enthusiastic walker, the North Cheshire Way stretches for 70 miles from the Wirral to the Peak District. The city of Chester is also accessible, a 20 minute drive away. Frodsham railway station is approx 1 mile away.

The town, which was mentioned in the Domesday Book, has a thriving centre which enjoys a weekly market on the high street, along with numerous specialist shops, popular pubs and wine bars. Thank you Liz for your attentive support as usual.

Although we were there for a family bereavement we all felt comforted by the house somehow. My great grandson loved the "Party Room " as he christened the sitting room especially the piano. The beds were all very comfortable and we all slept well . The kitchen is very well equipped and the dining hall great for entertaining. The additional "chillout room was very useful. We will certainly come back again, hopefully in happier circumstances.

Very spacious, clean and the owners were very responsive if needed (we really didn't need anything though). Hope to visit again - 100% recommend.
