S42980 is a stunning and distinctive home set in the heart of the idyllic and secluded Cornish village of St Mawgan and only just over five minutes from spectacular Watergate Bay. With over a mile of beach at low tide Watergate Bay is a hot destination for adrenaline junkies seeking surfing, kitesurfing, waveski, kite buggy, land board and mountain boarding but is just as popular with families for the traditional beach holiday, and dogs are welcome all year round. The property has a lovely characterful feel, and the owners have taken care to furnish using both antique and contemporary style to create a wonderful relaxed and comfortable home. Stylish bathrooms and fitted kitchen ensure a stress-free stay, and for the more active guests there are some wetsuits and surfboards provided. The village of St Mawgan is set in a conservation area in the beautiful Vale of Lanherne and has to be one of the prettiest in Cornwall. There is everything you need for your stay; an award winning 16th century village pub (which has a gorgeous wisteria growing over the stone facade, log fires, gardens and serves good food), a village shop (which can provide you with picnics for your days out), Post Office and craft and antique shops. There is a river running through the middle of the village and a cricket ground as well as a beautiful and interesting church, parts of which date back to the 13th century. The village is in a perfect location for exploring Cornwall and is within easy reach of Newquay airport. The picturesque port of Padstow is just a 20 minute drive. The Extreme Sports Academy and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Restaurant at Watergate Bay, which also has an excellent surfing beach, are just a 5 minute drive and the lovely sandy cove of Mawgan Porth is a similar distance.
