About this property

Derby 5.1 miles. Set on the southern fringes of the Peak District, a stroll away from the local pub and with all the delights of Derby close by, is Fieldview House. This wonderful, country house offers quality accommodation for a family or group of friends looking to tour the area. Positioned on a residential road in a peaceful village, the house enjoys far reaching views of verdant countryside glistening in the summer sunshine. Even on a cold winter's night the outdoors can be admired from the bi-folding doors in the sitting room, as the woodburner blazes on through the evening, keeping you toasty and warm. The kitchen is contemporary in style, hosting family dinners at the dining table. Catch glimpses of livestock grazing in the fields behind through the glass doors as you tuck into a delicious meal and chat about the adventures you've just had. In summer you can glide open the doors and let a gentle breeze cool the space. The ground level is complete with a single bedroom boasting an adjoining wet room, ideal for those with limited mobility. Climb the stairs to the square landing which stems off into three spacious bedrooms. There is a twin room with a wardrobe, and the double is also fitted with ample storage space. Finally, the master bedroom boasts a tiled en-suite, wall-mounted TV and a Juliet balcony overlooking grassy green fields. You also have an office on this floor, ideal for catching up on any work, followed by the modern family bathroom. Indulge with a candle-lit hot soak on return from exploring the Peak District towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell and Buxton. Relax on the patio with a drink and watch the kids play on the lawn. You are within easy drive of Alton Towers Theme Park and the National Trust's Kedleston Hall, as well as plenty of other excursions to suit all tastes. Walking and cycling come in abundance and Chatworth House is also worth a visit. There are lots of countryside walks from the front door, many routes with lovely country pubs that can be accessed across the fields & footpaths, and for the children there is a play area very close to the house. This superb base offers a relaxing holiday you won't forget.

Derby is the UK's most central city, with a full programme of festivals and events throughout the year. The Lonely Planet described it as “The best place to sample real ale in the world”. Explore the nearby Peak District; Ashbourne offers narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. There are a host of attractions including Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. Further north is the market town of Bakewell, well worth a visit just to try a taste of its famous Bakewell pudding.

This made our stay very comfortable and it was a joy to spend time in the house and garden. One negative point which is a pain but soon forgotten once in side the property is the parking, not easy for a long car to manouvre and a headache for 2 cars. Would love to come back some time to relax thank you

The 4th bedroom (downstairs) has been turned into a utility room and has no bed. It can also not be described as having 3 bathrooms as the disabled room is unusable as the wet room floods. The main bathroom is extremely outdated, the bath has no overflow causing it to flood I would strongly recommend you do not use it. The shower in the main bathroom is over the faulty bath. The dining area is very cramped, not suitable for a family of 5 to sit around comfortably. The fuse box is also in a locked cupboard, which is extremely dangerous and inconvenient, when the electricity trips. I'm afraid that this property fell very short of meeting our expectations, and provides the most terrible value for money. Sykes have told us that they do not visit the properties so can not guarantee what is listed is accurate. For this reason I can not recommend ever using Sykes.

Comfortable, clean, warm and with the best wood stove we have ever used.
