About this property

This excellent accommodation is conveniently located in the heart of Coniston with views across to the Old Man of Coniston in the beautiful Lake District. Set over the first and second floor floors above a craft shop, this is an ideal base for families and friends who wish to spend time together in this popular location. With a charming mix of contemporary and elegant styling and furnishings throughout, there is plenty of space to chill out with a playroom suitable for young children and a quiet study, all of which have been carefully presented to ensure your stay is perfect. On the first floor, there is a sitting room with views across the village to the Old Man of Coniston, a kitchen, a spacious dining room and twin bedroom with an en-suite. On the second floor there are three bedrooms, one with a super king-size double which can be made into twin beds on request and two king-size doubles. Outside, there is a garden which is accessible via external metal steps from the cottage. There are excellent amenities on the doorstep, with a range of village shops including a family butcher and great local inns. The Black Bull Inn is just forty yards away and brews Bluebird Bitter on-site. Being in the heart of the Coniston Fells, there are endless activities you can enjoy whether it is exploring the hills and mountains on foot, cycling through Grizedale Forest or getting out on Coniston Water. On the doorstep is the Ruskin Museum and just two miles away is Brantwood with beautiful gardens and tea room. The steam yacht gondola gently cruises up and down the lake stopping off at various points; a lovely way of exploring the eastern side with secluded beaches, perfect for picnics and wild swimming. Alternatively, pop over to Hawkshead and wonder around the quaint cobbled yards with whitewashed cottages and visit the Beatrix Potter Gallery. This superb cottage makes an ideal base for exploring this wonderful part of the Lake District.

Nestling at the head of Coniston Water, the pretty village of Coniston is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District National Park, making it a superb base for touring, with Hawkshead, Ambleside, Windermere and Grasmere just a short drive away. Superb walking, mountain biking and climbing are available locally on Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam, and the lovely woodland trails at Grizedale Forest. For watersports enthusiasts, the quiet lake is ideal for dinghy sailing and canoeing, whilst the less active can enjoy a leisure cruise on the beautiful steam yacht 'Gondola’, or visit Brantwood, the former home of John Ruskin. Nearby attractions include the award-winning village of Hawkshead, home of the Beatrix Potter Gallery, Tarn Hows, one of the most visited beauty spots in the country and Esthwaite Water, famous for its fishing. A first class holiday location at any time of the year.
