This beautiful cottage is ideal for exploring Holy Island and the Northumberland coast with its sweeping sandy beaches, dramatic coastline and rich history.
As the crow flies, this pretty deceptively spacious cottage is under 2 miles from the coast, making it a superb base for friends and families to explore this fabulous region. S89127 is one of a small row of traditional terraced cottages in the village of Fenwick, but this cottage is anything but traditional as it has marble tiled flooring, with all principal living and sleeping areas having the benefit of electric radiators including the stylish second sitting room on the first floor. All downstairs marble tiled areas have electric underfloor heating, including the shower room. The bedrooms have antique French beds and high quality bed linen, and even glimpses of the sea towards Holy Island from the landing and second sitting room.
Cross the tidal causeway to Holy Island at low tide, or discover the fishing villages along the coast. Holy Island can be reached on foot, following St Cuthbert’s Way from Fenwick, and is approximately 6 miles. Nearby Lowick has two good pubs and local shop, with other choices also close by at Beal. Berwick upon Tweed, 10 miles away to the north, has a range of hostelries, galleries, supermarkets and an excellent small theatre along with historic Elizabethan walls. There are boat trips to the Farne Islands from Seahouses, a quiet sandy beach at Goswick, wonderful gardens with grand houses and castles at Paxton, Alnwick and Bamburgh and Edinburgh and Newcastle are under an hour by train.
For cyclists, your bikes can be stored in the garage. There are beaches within 8 miles by car, or Ross Sands can be reached by a 5 mile car journey, followed by a walk of around 1 mile over farmland and dunes. Shops 2½ miles, pubs and restaurants 2 miles away, and within easy reach by car and bicycle.
