About this property

Professional photography coming soon!

East House is a grand country home set in its own grounds and bounded by a large, well-kept lawn and parkland. The house has lots of space for entertaining and enjoying company, with an elegant drawing room and dining room both decorated in classic style. Antiques, works of art and original shuttered windows add period charm.

The country-style kitchen has an unusual zinc and copper topped refectory table as well as an inglenook fireplace. An adjacent snug with a Smart TV is a perfect space for the little ones, while a boot room offers plenty of space for dogs and outdoor kit. The house’s large central staircase leads to five bedrooms, three of which have en-suites with underfloor heating.

The rural and secluded location is ideal for larger groups looking to get away from it all. The nearby Cheswick sands stretch all the way to Lindisfarne and Holy Island. You’re also in the perfect location to explore other gems of the Northumberland Coast, including Bamburgh Castle, while the historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed is nearby too.

  • The Elizabethan walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed is seven miles away, where you’ll find plenty of high street and independent shops, as well as The Maltings, a vibrant theatre and arts venue.

  • Home to one of England’s most iconic castles, the village of Bamburgh is a little further down the coast. There’s a good selection of restaurants in the town – don’t miss the chance to taste some locally caught fish!

  • The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is a magical and evocative destination, with a beautiful 12th century Priory. Time your visit carefully – the island is cut off from the mainland twice a day by the tides.

  • Alnwick is an attractive town with its original walled gate, home to a beautiful castle and gardens. If you’re a book lover then you’ll want to visit Barter Books, the shop that launched a thousand ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ posters.

  • If you find the North Sea a little bracing, the Swan Centre for Leisure is a fun place to come and do a few lengths with the family. There’s a wave machine and a flume slide too.

  • The main East Coast railway line runs along the coastline and you can take a train from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Edinburgh. There’s great shopping to be had along Princes Street, and the Edinburgh Festival in the height of summer is an absolute must.
