Luxury Craster Cottage sleeping up to 6 guests

"Set in a bay, once voted the most romantic in England...and just minutes from attractions to delight all ages"
Situated on the Northumberland Coastal Route with its stunning coastline of dunes and beaches, and boasting magnificent views of Dunstanburgh Castle, lies North Farm Cottages. These charming holiday homes will delight all ages. Once the heart of the farm, these stone built cottages have been expertly created in the former granaries, workshops, barns and byres of the steading, with great attention to detail by the caring owners, to offer a holiday experience to remember.
Located on the edge of Embleton village, close to the popular villages of Craster, renowned for its smoked kippers, Beadnell with its water sports, and Newton-by-the-Sea with its National Trust beach. The town of Alnwick is only 7 miles away, with its majestic castle (used in Harry Potter films), the enchanting Alnwick Gardens, playhouse, cobbled streets, inns and restaurants. Dunstanburgh Castle in nearby Craster, makes a lovely scenic walk along the cliff top, reached only by foot. Seahouses, known for its fine fish and chips and small working harbour, is always a visitor’s favourite. Holy Island is not to be missed, but remember to check the tides times, or take a relaxing boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the puffins or seals.
Embleton village has a friendly pub, restaurant, garage, post office and local shop, a well-equipped children’s park and magnificent sandy bay. A beach hut is also available to hire in Newton-by-the-Sea, a National Trust beach, by arrangement with the owners. There is a privately mown path to the beach at Newton-by-the-Sea and to the village of Embleton across the owner’s land. There is also a play park, duck pond and activities such as a mini beast mansion to keep the children occupied on their way to the beach, including a picnic area with breathtaking views of Dunstanburgh Castle and a wwii pillbox. Shop, pub and restaurant 3/4 mile.

Living room with oak floor. Kitchen/dining room with gas/electric range (for cooking) and wooden floor. Separate toilet. First floor: Two double bedrooms, one with 5ft bed; one with en-suite shower room and toilet. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet.

"Good facilities for family with children and dogs, well furnished. Loads of choices for beaches, walks, castles etc with which we were very familiar already. My daughter's children suffer from excema, and found the swimming pool rather too chlorinated to visit more than once. Otherwise, no other issues."
    Gemma – 3 Aug 2018
"A really beautiful cottage with lovely views. Everything you need to make your stay more comfortable is provided. The swimming pool had recently opened and was lovely and clean. There was a rota system to use it which we think let it down a bit, as the times allocated to us did not meet our requirements. However the one time we were able to use it, we did enjoy having it to ourselves. Because of the unpredictable weather, we didn’t get to do everything we wanted to in Northumberland and would love to return. When we do, we will definitely consider staying here again!!"
    Chris – 22 Jun 2018
"Great location and some great weather enabled us to have a lovely holiday based in this cottage. Would definitely rebook."
    Marjorie – 1 Jun 2018
"Excellent accommodation in a truly beautiful location. We had a wonderful week at Low Cottage."
    Helen – 20 Apr 2018
"Our fourth visit here and we hope to return in the future."
    Louise – 6 Apr 2018
"A lovely cottage that acts as a great base for exploring the local area. One of the cleanest places I’ve stayed and we would recommend on that basis alone. Embleton is lovely little village with a pub serving good food. A perfect spot for young families"
    Moira – 16 Mar 2018
"Good cottage loads of walking around I left some comments for owners . Bed head in main bedroom was loose and banged when sitting or moving about in bed really annoying I object to the huge amount of signs requesting that we strip beds ! before leaving by 10 am when I am on holiday that’s what I am away for a break from housework I think this is why you pay the hire fee I struggle with my own change of beddingWe left all pots washed clean and tidy cottage."
    Samantha – 20 Oct 2017
"We stayed at S14524 a couple of years ago and it is just as good now as it was then. For a family with 3 young children we found the cottage clean and comfortable, with a lot of equipment provided - they've thought of everything! The children also really enjoyed feeding the ducks every day and playing on the playground."
    Gillian – 13 Oct 2017
"Great place to stay. Particularly like the location. Cottage good value."
    Michael – 15 Sep 2017
"We were first to stay at Low Croft in 2011.Enjoyed it then as excellent and same this time."
    John – 4 Aug 2017
    Helen – 28 Jul 2017
"Absolutely loved the cottage accommodation. Superb! Clean and well equipped! 5*. Only one little grumble the mattresses/beds were very uncomfortable in master bedroom. Other than that faultless. Had a wonderful week despite the unpredictable weather. Will be back 👍🏻"
    Maxine – 7 Jul 2017
"This was our 3rd visit to Low Croft. The location is perfect and we love how you have a perfect path down to the beach. However, each year we have visited we have had to leave a day early because the bed is the worst I have ever slept in. It is so thin and hard we were dreading sleeping on it. This year I was hoping that it had been changed but unfortunately not. Please please North Farm Cottages change your mattresses they are terrible. Also the sofa is very slippy and you cant get cosy unless you lie down. There is no radio in the kitchen and no full length mirror anywhere.Having said that I must stress how much we love Embleton and the outside of the cottage the owners have thought of everything. Just change the beds and it would be even lovely."
    Colin – 19 May 2017
"A very comfortable cottage, centrally located for all the activities we wanted to do. The walk from the cottage to the beach and on to Dunstanburgh Castle is recommended."
    Roderick – 28 Apr 2017
"A lovely location for a Northumbrian holiday. A well equipped cottage with sea and castle views. We will be returning, as this is a wonderful part of the Country with Lapwings and Northumbrian pipes!! What more could one ask!"
    Matthew – 24 Mar 2017
"Great cottage with lovely views and surroundings"
    Helen – 17 Mar 2017
"Lovely cottage and quiet despite others surrounding it. Although we did go out of season. We love the walk down to the beach and Embleton has all you need for a relaxing holiday. Our third visit to Lowcroft, our dog feels quite at home now."
"A lovely clean warm peaceful cottage"
"Absolutely beautiful cottage, we have stayed at North Farm Cottages 3 times and have always had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend North Farm Cottages."
"The property was very clean & well equipped with a 20 min walk to a fantastic beach. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, the only down side was we could have done with an enclosed space outside so we could relax with a drink & not worry about our dogs bothering other people. Some other properties had this space so if we return would book one of these."
"The cottage is lovely, clean and well equipped. No enclosed garden - shared back garden area - one cottage having a hot tub, of which, guests in that cottage used until the early hours of the morning - close proximity made it very noisy, which in turn kept us awake. The area is outstandingly beautiful, stunning coastline"
"What a lovely surprise to open the front door to the cottage. Everything was provided for including a full bowl of fruit. The location was beautiful, we live in the Dartmoor National Park and our expectations were fulfilled. The local shop stock was quite limited, there was also a small store at the garage. We know the area well, lots to see and do."
    "Brilliant, will visit again."
"Very clean and well maintained cottage in superb location with views across to Dunstanburgh Castle. Close to Alnwick and with lots of 'dog friendly' pubs and restaurants in the area. We have had many cottage holidays in Northumberland but have particularly enjoyed our many stays at Northfarm."
"We all have said we will return in the future .This cottage is in the best position near the coast to do all our walking. The owners have thought of everything even making a path down to the beach and to the village pubs."
"A gorgeous cottage, very well equipped, spacious and clean. It was a real treat to be within walking distance of the beach and the village. Would go again."
"A great cottage in a superb location"
"S14524 was a joy to stay in. The additional touches made it feel special. For example, bath robes in the master bedroom, shampoo and shower gel dispensers in shower and towel bales in all bedrooms. It was immaculate and very spacious - though there were only 2 of us and our dog so far too big for our needs. The kitchen was well-equipped with a large range type cooker. The location is brilliant. There is a private grassed path to the beach (about 20 mins walk) and to nearby Embleton (15 mins). Only down side for us is that there isn't a private garden. Plus they only allow one dog, which will exclude us from booking in future. Lovely place, though, if you are looking for something special."
"Our second visit and we really enjoyed our stay."
"We had a wonderful time and have booked again for next year"

"Beautiful cottage in a stunning location means the perfect holiday. We will be back."
"We had a wonderful holiday. Thank you. Great location and cottage. The Owners and all the staff who run the site are very pleasant and helpful. Our only suggestion would be for a king size bed in the master bedroom as well as improved mattresses and bedding. Some of the nights were cooler and we would suggest that some spare blankets are made available. We also have enjoyed on previous stays a welcome pack of Northumberland Faye.Best wishes and many thanks."
"Excellent cottage, clean and well furnished and great location.Only concern - no response or answer phone on number provided for help - so shower wasn't fixed while we were there."
"was so relaxing came home really chilled the dog thought she was in heaven would go again most definitely"
"Very good cottage in a spectacular location. Only complaint about the cottage is re the range grill and oven, the heating temperatures round the knob were worn off so difficult to set a temperature. The instructions didn't show pictures, etc therefore not useful."
"A lovely property in a super location. Very clean and comfortable, a real home from home. With so much to see and do in the area and a great beach almost on the doorstep, what more could you want? "
"Really nice place. Perfect for walking the dog to the beach and to the pub."
"Fabulous cottage, beautiful location, wonderful holiday"
    Confirmed guest
"Fantastic cottage in lovely setting. It really made it for us being able to walk everywhere . The farmer had mown lovely easy paths by the fields and through the wheat fields so not only could you enjoy the scenery you could be in it! Would definitely recommend all the cottages."

"The property was excellent and couldn’t be faulted - good quality fixtures and fittings and well appointed rooms and bathrooms. We were made to feel so welcome by the staff on site and nothing was too much trouble. The local, Greys Inn, was also a very happy experience - an old fashioned country pub with friendly locals, good home cooked food and our dog was made to feel as welcome as we were. Just sorry we couldn’t have stayed longer! Dec 2012."
    Previous guest
"Well fitted out, comfortable beds, large well equipped kitchen. Wi-fi available although not advertised. Fab views across fields to sea. Nearby beach wonderful. June 2012. "
    Previous guest
"The accommodation was lovely, with high quality, modern fittings. Everything was well thought-out, with helpful touches such as soap, shower gels and beach towels. It is well situated for exploring the coast and castles and is located on the edge of Embleton village, a 5-10 minute walk. There is a good playground in the village for children of all ages and a village shop and garage both open 7 days a week for food/ newspapers etc. It would be a reasonable walk to the beach, perhaps 1 1/2 miles across fields and dunes: we did not manage it with young children. July 2011. "
