"S49592 was extremely comfortable and well-equipped. We only stayed for a weekend but would have loved to have stayed longer! The cottage was cleaned to a high standard and it was lovely to arrive to find a welcome pack of food essentials (bread, butter, milk, eggs etc.). The information provided was thorough and the cottage owner was always willing to answer any questions we had.I would definitely recommend S49592."
Brian – 28 Sep 2018
"Excellent cottage. Everything spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The owner, Rachel, has thought of everything you might need, even to the superb welcome hamper on arrival. She was very helpful and friendly. The cottage is very well placed for exploring Northumberland's coast and countryside and Newcastle's Quayside is not to be missed, especially at dusk. We did not find the A1 to be an issue. All our party look forward to returning to this lovely cottage!"

"We have just spent a 4 day break in Northumerland at S49592,it is a beautiful house in which to make a base for visiting the attractions of the area.Places such as Amble,Seahouses,Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island are all within a 35min drive.S49592 is immaculately kept and equipped by the owner Rachell, who supplied a very nice welcome hamper for our arrival. Our only regret was that we could not have spent more time there but we shall return."
Sheila – 10 Sep 2018
"Went for the great north run but would love to come back to the area when we have more time and explore this area. Would go back to this cottage anytime!"
Caroline – 31 Aug 2018
"A super cottage with everything you would wish for to make a relaxing break what ever the time of year. Set on great location with with a good mix of attractions and days out exploring the Northumberland countryside within half an hours drive. The owners of this lovely cottage live within the grounds Rachel is an excellent host with lots of local knowledge which was very helpful."
Lisa – 10 Aug 2018
"Fabulous cottage, clean, modern with everything you could need. Very comfortable, a home from home. Welcome hamper provided by the lovely owners. Location is great for most attractions, lovely sandy beaches 15 mins drive. Thoroughly recommend and we will definitely be going back."

"We recently stayed at S49592 for a week with our two young children and the whole experience from start to finish was second to none. We thought that Rachel was an absolute pleasure to deal with - from the courtesy call we received a day or two before we arrived, to the final chat just before leaving, we were made to feel very welcome, with nothing being too much trouble. We were very impressed with the cottage when we arrived. It was luxuriously presented and very clean, and a little welcome basket of goodies was waiting for us - a lovely touch. The cottage was very well equipped with a nice selection of board games, dvds, and books - something for all tastes! As far as the location is concerned, we found the cottage to be well placed for trips to the seaside as well as numerous local attractions (Alnwick Castle and gardens being within striking distance) while larger towns like Morpeth and even Newcastle are sufficiently close for a trip on a rainy day. We would undoubtedly recommend to friends and family, or anyone fancying a trip to Northumberland in a relaxed location, with a lovely base in which to stay."
LANGFORD – 27 Jul 2018
"This is our second stay at S49592 and once again we were delighted to stay there. The cottage is immaculately clean, comfy with everything you need including a welcome hamper and it just feels like home. The owner Rachel is extremely friendly and couldn't be more helpful, once again a wonderful holiday which was also helped by the glorious weather!"
John – 29 Jun 2018
"A charming, comfortable, cosy, clean cottage beautifully furnished and decorated throughout - the beds were ultra-comfy and it was lovely not having any wi-fi thereby enabling us to enjoy the outdoor space, read and play card games in the evening. Upon arrival we found a lovely welcome hamper on the dining table from Rachel (the owner) who also kept in touch with us by email during the week prior to our booking. The Oak pub is just down the road (within easy walking distance) - has recently been taken over, provides live music on Friday evenings and really good quality food and beer.An excellent area for exploring the fabulous Northumbrian coastline, National Trust and English Heritage properties nearby. Morpeth is a jewel of a town for all generations, and Newcastle quayside is not to be missed. Overall - a truly lovely property and one to return to again and again."
Cliff – 15 Jun 2018
"Lovely warm welcome from the owner Rachel, with a very nice, comprehensive 'welcome' pack waiting for us on arrival. The cottage is well appointed and well located for Alnwick, and coastal areas. lots of English Heritage and National Trust properties in easy reach. Hadrian's Wall is further afield but still in easy driving distance. There is a pub nearby within walking distance but for everything else you need to drive. Even though you are close to the A1 we did not find this a problem."
Susan – 8 Jun 2018
"Lovely clean cottage"
Philip – 1 Jun 2018
"Lovely modern very clean cottage with lots of personal touches and very nicely done. The main roads a little noisey but it’s fine lovely wildlife around and the views are lovely. Very nice owners are their if you need any help"
Nina – 25 May 2018
"An amazing cottage, superbly equipped & beautifully decorated."
Lindsay – 18 May 2018
"This is a beautifully presented property in a quiet location some 6 miles from the county town of Morpeth. It is situated close to all the main areas worthy of a visit. The owner, Rachel, lived adjacent to the cottage and met us on arrival. She had provided a lovely hamper and was extremely helpful throughout our 4 day break. We will certainly use this property again and recommend it to our friends and relatives."
Jeremy – 27 Apr 2018
"Excellent cottage and friendly owner. Would consider hiring it again"
Gina – 6 Apr 2018
"S49592 is a fantastic holiday cottage, really well appointed, beautifully decorated, stylish and modern. We arrived to find it spotlessly clean with a very much appreciated, thoughtful hamper of essentials - thank you. The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed to cook. Tea towels, an apron, matches and washing up liquid were all provided. The garden room is lovely to just sit chatting or reading in. The lounge is a very nice size with plenty of seating and very nicely decorated. The bedrooms are attractively decorated, my three children all felt they had a nice room with lots of storage/hanging space. The double bedroom is beautiful, my daughter loved it. The main bedroom is very attractive and a great size. The single room has an appealing beach theme and a wardrobe (something not often provided in single rooms) All the bathrooms were beautifully fitted and spotlessly clean.Rachel the owner is lovely, kind, helpful and friendly. She made us feel really welcome and had clearly thought of every little detail to provide the perfect holiday cottage. We loved Oakwood and felt really sad to leave, even though the weather had been terrible everyday. It was a pleasure to return to Oakwood each evening, it was warm and inviting even on a cold rainy day. We had some great evenings playing games (provided) and not having WIFI was so restful. My three children actually wanted to go out, play games and talk rather than sit watching a screen - I'm never booking a cottage with WIFI again because its so much better with out it. We read books and talked - it was lovely family time. There is plenty of parking and the garden area is a good size with a table and chairs. There are lovely views of fields and its very easy to get to places such as Morpeth, Wallington Hall and Belsey Castle and Gardens - both about 30 minutes easy drive. We found Oakwood a great location, and hope to stay there again."
Susan – 30 Dec 2017
"Excellent cottage with very good facilities . Rachel was extremely helpful"
Kathleen – 29 Sep 2017
"This cottage was the best we have rented for a holiday. It was so clean and well equipped. It was beautifully decorated and furnished. It was simply stunning. Rachel made us so very welcome."
Alan – 22 Sep 2017
"It was our second visit to the cottage, we so enjoyed it last year. The house is well looked after, thoughtfully furnished and equipped, and very clean. There are several places of interest nearby, and if you fancy a day in, the sun room is perfect for reading, and the cottage is equipped with outdoor table and chairs for warm dry days."
Dawn – 15 Sep 2017
"This was a lovely cottage and would definitely recommend it to any one and definitely go back in the future Rachel was a lovely host and very helpful"
David – 4 Sep 2017
"We had a rapid weekend visit with 5 of us in early September. Rachel, the owner couldn't have been any more helpful short of tucking us in at night! The cottage was well appointed with a generous array of goodies waiting for us on arrival, the wood burner made the place cosy in the evening while the small conservatory room picked up the last of the sunshine and was a nice place to read. Beds and showers were excellent. Would thoroughly recommend the cottage for trips around this coastline."
Sheila – 25 Aug 2017
"Excellent cottage in all respects but location may put some people off, a long way to shops if you've forgotton the milk etc. and the A1 is a very busy road to get on especially when you are crossing over. But being with the family we all enjoyed the cottage."
LANGFORD – 11 Aug 2017
"Absolutely fantastic, so clean, so comfortable, so well positioned and such an amazing and welcoming owner. Cannot fault this cottage or owner recommend 150% and will definitely be back. Brilliant and thank you so much."
Tom – 4 Aug 2017
"S49592 is a fantastic place to stay. It has quick and easy access to attractions such as Alnwick Gardens, Bamburgh Castle and Beamish Museum. The cottage itself is really nicely decorated, spacious and has everything you would need when on holiday and the owner is very welcoming and helpful. The only (albeit small) negative point is the location. It is situated in a slightly isolated spot right next to the A1 rather than in a village. This means that it's not easy to, for example, walk to a local shop for supplies or take an evening stroll and you will therefore have to plan ahead to ensure you don't run out of the essentials. That said, this certainly didn't have a great impact on our fantastic stay and I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who is considering visiting Northumberland."
Colin – 7 Jul 2017
"We had a great time using this lovely place as a base for exploring much of Northumberland. It was always a pleasure to set off from, and return to, this welcoming home. The cleanliness, comfort, space, light and location were all first class as was the décor within the property. Everything ran like clockwork. The organisation was great as was the friendly welcome from the owner - who had left a welcome basket of goodies. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property and would return at a future date ourselves."
Emma – 23 Jun 2017
"Where to start...! Fantastic cottage with everything you need for a relaxing, comfortable stay, in a great location. There is plenty of wildlife to enjoy around the property, and there are so many great sights to be seen just down the road. The cottage has a real home-from-home feel, and was absolutely spotless and very nicely decorated. As for Rachel, she does everything imaginable to ensure you have a stress free, enjoyable stay. She is warm and welcoming, informative and a pleasure to have on hand if, and when, needed! Overall, a first class experience from the first moment of stepping into the cottage, to locking up at the end. I would highly recommend it and certainly stay again."
Seana & Keith – 26 May 2017
"We flew over from the USA for a week long visit with family and friends and this Cottage was exactly what we were hoping for!The whole cottage is charming and extremely well equipped with modern appliances and comfortable furniture throughout. It was evident that the owner took great pride while planning and decorating and it made our whole stay wonderful. When we arrived we found the cottage exactly how it looked in the pictures and a welcome basket that contained everything we would need until we made it to the store for supplies. We appreciated the book containing maps and adverts to the things we could visit in the area. The views out of the bedroom windows were relaxing and postcard perfect on the west side, and the wildlife in the area was fun to watch as we entertained family in the garden. We will definitely be back to stay at S49592 the next time we come to Northumberland.Side note - we noticed it was mentioned in some reviews that there was no wifi, however we found this an added benefit and a chance for us to 'unplug' from social media. On the few occasions that we wanted to use our smart phones, the signal strength in the area was just fine to get us online."
Lisa – 24 Apr 2017
"A beautiful new build cottage! We had a lovely stay. There was a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable furnishings. Within sight of the single lane A1 but could not be heard inside and did not bother us outside. A car is needed to explore the area. There is a local pub, but unfortunately we did not get to experience it. We could not fault our stay and would be more than happy to return."
Deborah – 14 Apr 2017
"Cottage was wonderful again. Highly recommended! Clean and well equipped. Beds comfortable. Only downside is no wifi!"
Robert – 12 Mar 2017
"We had an excellent stay. The cottage had everything we needed and the owner was fabulous and could not do enough for us. We had three cars and there is lots of off road parking."
Simone – 30 Dec 2016
"Lovely clean well equipped cottage. Kitchen has plenty of equipment for self-catering. Only sort of downside is its proximity to the main road, although this could be seen as handy to get to the coast countryside or town ! Owner super efficient and friendly"
Louise
"Lovely holiday cottage, we've enjoyed our break and the location was perfect very central to visitor attractions - cottage owner could not have been more welcoming or helpful, will definitely recommend 😊"
Peter and Lynda
"We have just returned from 2 very happy weeks at S49592. The cottage was equipped with everything you could possibly need. It was beautifully presented, very comfortable and a joy to stay at. After a busy day sightseeing it was a lovely place to return to.The owner could not have been nicer or more helpful. She is a lovely lady."
Alan
"We were well looked after by Rachel, who left a welcome hamper and an immaculate cottage, tastefully furnished with ample parking. Especially enjoyed the garden room.It was only lack of wifi that stopped a higher rating and this is on the way, we were told. More of an issue as we also found Vodafone signal very patchy, but some may regard this as a plus!"
Jo
"Lovely cottage, stylishly decorated with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Friendly and attentive host, who went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed including Lego for our 4 year old!"
Mary
"We enjoyed our stay in S49592 very much. Built by the owners to a high spec finish and well equipped with good quality furniture and accessories, we felt very comfortable and relaxed. There were many special touches including a welcome tray, wine and toiletries. Rachel was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. As she manages the property herself everything was spotlessly clean and well presented.Just off the A1 it was convenient to visit most places. The private garden and parking just out side the front door was a bonus. We would recommend this cottage to families, couples and holidaying with friends, as there is space to enjoy a mix of leisure pursuits. A visit to The Running Fox, at Felton is highly recommended. We look forward to a return visit."
Andy
"Location is fine if travelling around the area. Owner very welcoming and the unexpected welcome pack a pleasant surprise. Will use again if coming back to area."
Gill
"Beautiful cottage with excellent facilities, designed and furbished to a fabulous standard. Rachel the owner is lovely and helpful, many thanks for the welcome pack, much appreciated as it meant we could wait to go to the Supermarket until the next day whilst on our travels. It is in the southern end of Northumberland so requires travel to get about the coast etc , which was no problem for us as the A1 was clear all week once we got the bank holiday out of the way.Look forward to returning in the not too distant future."
