Westvew Cottage is a traditional stone built, end terraced cottage in a quiet lane in North Sunderland, located on the fringe of the popular fishing village of Seahouses. The open plan living space boasts the friendly comfort of a wood burner, making this charming cottage a suitable choice regardless of the season. The bright and airy conservatory at the rear of the property overlooks the pretty patio garden. There is also a double bedroom on the ground floor with a bathroom, newly fitted in November 2020, adjacent. There are two further bedrooms on the first floor; one twin and one single, along with the added convenience of a separate toilet. Westview Cottage offers an excellent base from which to explore the Northumberland Heritage Coastline designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Seahouses offers a wide variety of facilities including tearooms, restaurants, pubs and shops around a mile from the cottage. Boat trips to the Farne Islands run from the nearby harbour - the islands are famous for their nesting sea birds and grey seal colonies. Horse riding is available on the cusp of the village and there is an impressive golf course on the links close by. The picture postcard village of Bamburgh, protected by its dramatic fortress, is only 2 miles north, with its wide expanse of golden, and often empty, sandy beaches and where the tidal island of Lindisfarne, locally known as Holy Island and the birth place of Christianity, can be viewed. A further 2 miles up the coastline brings you to Warren Mill, which is steeped in history. Once an important port, its harbour has long since disappeared, silted up beneath the sands of the estuary. Budle Bay is a bird sanctuary and at low tide a vast expanse of mud flats is the home to countless thousands of sea and land birds making this location a haven for bird watchers. The market town of Alnwick, with its own castle offers many facilities a few miles inland. Alnwick Garden is a popular visitor attraction with its grand cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe! Beach 1 mile. Shop and pub 1 mile, restaurant 700 yards.

The log burner was lovely, but burnt through much too quickly, as it would not close down, so spent a lot of money on logs! Ask the owners to please get someone to check it out, a fire risk if anyone went out and left it burning!

Overall very good. Need to repair fire so that damper works otherwise the rain forest will soon disappear.

We had a great and relaxing break at Westview Cottage. The cottage is very well equipped and had everything we needed for the stay (and more). The property is lovely and situated at the end of a quiet lane. But is only a short drive to the centre of Seahouses, the beach and other attractions. The property was clean and welcoming on arrival. We had a brilliant stay and thoroughly enjoyed our time in the cottage. We hope we can return in the future.
