About this property

This pretty, traditional detached cottage is in an elevated position above the village of Winster, just five minutes' walk from the village centre. With charming original features including exposed beams and a feature fireplace, this cottage is a fantastic base for couples or a small family. The lovely kitchen has everything you will need during your stay and from here there is one step down to the comfortable sitting room. Here there is a warming electric coal-effect fire and exposed beams which creates a homely atmosphere. Tucked away at the end of this room is a dining area where you will also find a selection of books and local guides. This is a great place to spread the maps out and make plans for your holiday in the Peak District. Upstairs, the main bedroom has a delightful fireplace and both this and the second single room have stunning views out across the church to the surrounding countryside. To the side of the cottage is a surprisingly secluded patio area which has a dining set so you can enjoy your alfresco breakfast or dinner within the peace and tranquillity of your surroundings. There are a number of shops, pubs and attractions in the heart of Winster including the National Trust's Market Hall. For walkers, the Limestone Way runs alongside the cottage, Stanton Moor Peak is close by, the Tissington and High Peak Trails are ideal for cyclists and climbers can try out Robin Hood's Stride. With a fantastic selection of National Trust properties, pretty market towns and villages and picturesque landscapes, this is an ideal location for exploring the Peak District.

The conservation village of Winster is situated within the White Peak area of the Peak District National Park and is an extremely pretty place, with a charming 17th century market house at its centre, and other imposing 17th and 18th century houses, many three storeys high. The three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank are interconnected by alleyways known as ‘ginnels’, which are well worth exploring.
