A complimentary welcome hamper will be awaiting you on your arrival containing milk, tea, fresh coffee, bread, butter, eggs, juice, wine and cheese, along with other essential items to prepare a light snack or breakfast. There may be some regional variations.
Oak Tree Cottage which has ground floor accommodation is a delightful cottage set in an amazing position right in the middle of the forest and approached by a short narrow track.
Eyeworth is a very pretty hamlet with a beautiful pond about 300 yards from the cottage with wild ducks. The wild ponies are often seen drinking from the side of the pond and the ducks are always looking for a crust of bread to be thrown in for them.
Surrounded by forest in a very quiet position you can walk from the front door in all directions, no roads, just woodland and heath land where ponies graze
The cottage was part of an old gun powder factory dating from 1899. There are wonderful views from all the windows where you will spot wildlife. There is a flat fenced large garden with lawn and flower beds which is safe for children.
About 900 yards away is a local country pub that serves wonderful lunches every day of the week and stocks local beers.
The nearest shop is about 3 miles away. Salisbury, Bournemouth, Lymington (where there are very good shops and a street market on a Saturday) and Southampton are easily accessible. Visit Peppa Pig World at Romsey only 10 miles away. The nearest sandy beaches are Bournemouth 18 miles and Sandbanks 21 miles. Stonehenge is 24.5 miles away. Brownsea Island is easily reached from Poole Harbour where one can sea red squirrels and peacocks and is 35 miles away.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful locstion

This is a beautiful and very well equipped cottage. We've been twice now and will be back. We go for a few days with a car boot full of food and drink and tend not to leave, save for the odd meander around the new forest, or if we're feeling really energetic, we'll drive to Brockenhurst and hire bikes. The bedrooms are lovely and perfect for a family or group of friends and the living area is comfortable and spacious. The welcome hamper is such a lovely touch, we're still working our way through the biscuits! There is absolutely no phone signal (or wifi) and we love this - it really is a break from the real world. I would highly recommend Oak Tree Cottage to anyone!

Again, we had a lovely holiday at this cottage. It is very peaceful in a wonderful, fairly isolated position. There are some lovely views and some fabulous walks nearby. The cottage is very well equipped.There are some items which we feel the owner should improve on. Firstly is the absence of a decent shower, despite there being 3 bathrooms. The 6 of us had to wait our turn using the bath room with a shower attachment, but some elderly relatives couldn't even use this as it meant sitting in the bath! The wood panelling of that bath is also getting badly damaged. We would put a proper walk in shower in the main bedroom.The cottage also needs a new Sky Box as the current one cannot record. We mentioned this last year, but it was the same box.The temperature of the cottage is hard to maintain, as the thermostat is in one of the bedrooms!
