About this property

The characterful home can comfortably accommodate up to ten guests across five beautifully kept bedrooms. On the ground floor is the elegant entertaining space which comprises of an inviting living room with cosy open fireplace, a spacious dining room and a fully-equipped kitchen which comes complete with all the tools a budding chef could possibly need! Upstairs on the first floor are the bedrooms, a master room which boasts its very own en-suite bathroom, as well as a further two doubles and two twin rooms, each of these boast fireplaces and countryside views. One of the doubles and one of the twins share the use of a newly-installed shower room, while the remaining rooms share a large family bathroom.

Old Queens Manor's real magic can be found outside, the beautifully-manicured gardens are completely private, and guests will instantly feel as though they are in total tranquillity. Superb property for the whole family of ten. We enjoyed swimming, tennis and croquet ! Also, well positioned for local points of interest. The Anchor and the community shop were both very welcoming too.

We loved our time at the Old Queens Manor especially the gardens and the tennis court. It was a perfect getaway for our family. Thanks to Jane for her hospitality.

We were lucky to book The Old Queens Manor at the last minute for quite the most gorgeous half term week. The house is spectacular, the photos simply do not do it justice. When we arrived, the children raced through the house from room to room, squealing with excitement. There was plenty of space for all of us. The feel of the property is so warm and welcoming which was a little surprising as older large properties can feel austere, but the Old Queens Manor oozed charm, comfort and, importantly in a trip for the ‘discerning’ holidaymaker, real quality. The setting was blissful and incredibly relaxing. After a difficult year in London, spent mostly cooped up at home, it was just the tonic our family needed. Surrounded by lush green and rolling hills, the views from every elegant sash window of the expansive gardens felt like looking into a painting. The children had a blast in the swimming pool, (which Jane, the owner, had kindly gone to the trouble of having cleaned and heated just for our arrival) and, although a little fresh in the late October air, the water was heated to a tropical 28 degrees. We also made use of the tennis court, which is in perfect condition and loved the enormous gardens. The children took great joy in picking up the most whopping red apples from the orchard every day and we made crumbles, compote and apple pie on the Aga (which was a revelation for me to cook on and has gone on my ‘must have’ list for my new kitchen!). My daughter would linger at the windows in the hope of spotting a pheasant, which she happily did on many occasions. I would love to tell you about the local attractions etc but, other than strolling to the pub in the village for dinner one evening, we didn’t leave the house at all, we were so happy to be there. We were so sad to leave the The Old Queens Manor at the end of our stay, the children made us promise we will return next year. The holiday was spectacular in the grey autumn drizzle, I can only imagine how divine it must be in the sunshine! Huge thanks to Jane, who was such a generous host. I started to read one of her books during the week and I am hooked! She kindly gifted me the book when I left, which was so sweet of her. Nothing was too much trouble, she even called the local leisure centre to secure us the last pair of arm bands when we realised we had forgotten to pack our three year olds swimming aids. This level of attention helped our holiday to run flawlessly. We can’t wait to visit this gem of a property again and would highly recommend it to others.
