About this property

Settle 0.5 miles. This delightful semi-detached, stone-built coachman's cottage is located in beautiful rolling countryside in the small hamlet of Stackhouse, just half a mile from the market town of Settle. Situated in its own spacious grounds, the house is located in a wonderful countryside location with superb long distance views and lovely walking opportunities along the River Ribble. A fabulous rural retreat for large families or groups looking to get away from it all and enjoy the magnificent countryside, the lovely fresh air and the opportunity to spend time in a first-class holiday home. All individually styled, combining a hint of both the modern with the more traditional, the cottage has a spacious bespoke kitchen leading through into an open plan sitting room with cosy woodburning stove. A perfect place to spend time together preparing sumptuous meals, relaxing by the warming fire, catching up on the latest news and planning the next walk. A separate dining room with a welcoming open fire can also be used as a snug or turned into a ground floor bedroom, a great addition to this lovely cottage. With underfloor heating from the eco-friendly solar panels, guests are provided with that little something extra for their well-deserved break. Upstairs there are four bedrooms, with two nicely set out doubles, a family room with flexible sleeping arrangements and a useful single room. The bathroom is modern and very stylish, and there is a useful cloakroom on the ground floor. Outside is a superb 'soft tub' providing guests with an ideal place to relax in the soothing waters and enjoy the views across the spacious lawns and the surrounding meadowland. Good cycle routes are available from the doorstep along quiet lanes and the ride up to Austwick and Horton in Ribblesdale is a particular local favourite. The challenge of the Three Peaks is just a short drive away, not for the faint hearted but certainly a rewarding achievement for those of the more energetic persuasion. Nearby Settle and Giggleswick are a real delight with good old fashioned pubs, excellent cafes, a good range of restaurants, a weekly market, a small but very interesting golf course and the renowned Giggleswick School. The Courtyard on the edge of the town offers a great place to visit with furniture makers, award-winning cheeses and lots more. For train lovers access to the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway line is on the doorstep and well worth a ride through some of the most scenic places in the country. Both Skipton and the Lake District are both under an hour's drive away, making this cottage a delightful place to be whatever the time of year.

Settle is a popular market town situated at the south west rim of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The market day in Settle is held on a Tuesday and the town has shops, restaurants, pubs and a public swimming pool. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country and the natural attractions of Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are well worth exploring. Also within driving distance is the nearby towns of Skipton and Malham.

The cottage itself is lovely, very spacious, comfortable, clean. Excellent hot tub. 2 showers which is ideal when there are 6-7 people, 2 toilets. Comfy beds. The underfloor heating in the kitchen is not overwhelming but just a nice heat that takes the edge off the chill. We did some great walks from the doorstep to Victoria Cave and some waterfalls. My family and I stayed here inbetween Christmas and New Year. A great stay - I imagine we will be visiting again! My suggestions for improvement would be: A few essentials in the kitchen - e.g tea bags, tin foil, baking paper (there was salt and pepper) however Booths isn't far if you have a car. Enough firewood for duration of stay - although it does seem standard in accomodation that you have to provide your own. I would rearrange the downstairs to have a dining room next to the kitchen - no sofas, just big dining table and make the other downstairs room into a room with enought sofa space for all guests.

We were a party of seven with ages ranging from 24 - 81. Plenty of room for us all with flexibility with sleeping arrangements with the sofabed in the dining room. Beds comfy, with plenty of pillows and towels. Hot tub was lovely and warm with bench around the outside and lights in it - and more towels and robes available to use. Cottage in a great location with lots of walks on the doorstep and not too far from nearest shops. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need for cooking for yourself including oil, salt, pepper, kitchen roll and lots of storage for your supplies. Sofas and cushions comfy and wi-fi and tvs worked well. We had three cars and it was a bit of a tight squeeze to park them all in the dedicated parking for the cottage but a neighbour at the back said we could park one vehicle at the back of the house so we did. The fires were lovely with plenty of coal and wood - definately a highlight to come back to after out November daily jaunts. Heating warmed the other rooms well. Lots of hooks for coats and large shoe tack for walking boots, etc. Only small thing property needs is a mirror in each bedroom. We would all recommend Old Hall Cottage as a great place to stay!

Kitchen floor was a bit sticky around the sink area. We couldn’t locate a mop. Loads of cupboard space throughout the building. Car parking is good. Maybe think about electric car charging point? Hot tub lid was not secured when we arrived. We only found the attachment points for the security straps at ground level at the end of the stay. In the event I don’t think the chance of our three year old lifting the lid was high. All in all very good venue for family with children
