The mature gardens offer views over open countryside to the rear. The nearby conifer woods are one of the last strongholds of the native red squirrel. Explore the red squirrel trail and you might catch a glimpse of the local deer on your route.     "This was a lovely cottage, situated in a beautiful location. We chose Hawes due to the Cheese Festival, and it was a very pleasant walk to the village, which has some lovely shops and great things to do.The week went very quickly and we would love to visit again, as we did not get a chance to do everything we wanted in the local area."

    "We stayed at S45301 during the finest weather in a long time, in late June. It was hot but the cottage remained cool and comfortable. There was everything we needed in the kitchen and the sitting-room was a good size with very accommodating sofa and armchairs. The main bedroom facing the back looked away over a hillside and was a good place to watch the bird and wildlife- curlews, wagtails, hares and rabbits and so on. The mattress was a little too firm for us but clean and king size. The bathroom did it's job but you do have to have the blind down most of the time as the window has clear glass and looks out onto the road, however the road is generally only traffic busy rather than pedestrian busy. Despite being on a B road that was busy with quite fast traffic at the usual peak traffic times it was very peaceful as the sound translates as a gentle thrum which I find much less intrusive than the sounds of people going about their daily life. Sitting out in the garden of an evening was lovely, honeysuckle in bloom and view over the garden wall and the sounds of curlews going about their business. Thumbs up from us!"

    "As you can see from our score we could not fault S45301. The cottage is beautifully situated in fabulous countryside and well placed to enable day trips to other areas of Yorkshire. It is a beautiful house, providing absolute comfort with a definite home from home feel. The kitchen is very well stocked and caters for every need. Various wildlife visits the garden and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We hope to return at some point in the future."

    "the was a joy to stop in,the area is lovely we had loads of snow which made it even better.the only thing that needs doing is some wind proofing to the front door to stop the snowblowing in. otherwise it is excellent, would certainly come again.les (Stafford)"

    "The best cottage we have ever stayed in for comfort- a real 'home from home' with large comfy sofas and beds and oh so warm! Plenty of wildlife visits the garden and we would love to stay here in the summer months and get to sit outside and enjoy the relative isolation and view. The cottage has everything (and more) that you need and is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The only negatives for some would be the number of steps within the property if you have mobility issues, the garden is not secure for dogs or children, and the road is too busy to walk down (although there is a field walk to Hawes which we didn't do due to time constraints). These negatives are however far out-weighed by the many positives. A lovely welcome box of tea, biscuits, milk and wine was also waiting for us."

    "The house was wonderful we loved our holiday. The only concern I have is the house and land being dog friendly, twice we found our dog in the main road as it managed to get through the gap in the front wall which I believe is used for drainage. It would be good if it could be secured like the other one on the opposite wall with a little gate and maybe a board, I know this is difficult with the way the grounds are situated sharing with the neighbour. But other than that its one of our best dales holidays we have had."
