Garden Cottage sleeping up to 5 guests

For that idyllic rural escape this pretty cottage is just the ticket, in its own enclosed garden and with acres of parkland to explore.
S85290 is a stone built, detached Victorian cottage in its own enclosed garden situated on Strachur Park. The cottage is approached by 250 yards of rough farm track that leads from the village of Strachur along an avenue of beeches to the old walled garden, which is no longer in use, and to the fields and woods beyond. The cottage is light and airy and all the rooms look out onto the peaceful parkland.
Strachur is just a short walk away, with a post office/shop, petrol station and two local pubs; Dunoon is a half hour drive and has all main amenities, and there are several good restaurants close by and in nearby Inveraray.
Dating from 1789, and still owned by the original family, Strachur Park comprises lush pasture with avenues and woodlands of mature trees - mostly limes, beeches and Scots firs. Take a stroll on one of the woodland walks with rhododendrons and rare shrubs, as well as nature trails offering an abundance of wild flowers and wildlife. There is also a small river running through the park and a secluded lochan, perfect for a picnic. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

    Pene – 16 Nov 2018
"Beautiful cottage, lots of space with large kitchen and two sitting rooms plus two bathrooms so would be great for families. There was only my hubby and myself plus our two dogs but cottage was lovely and cosy despite the weather being typically Scottish and very wet. Cottage is well equipped although missing a few extras like a microwave, an ironing board and a clothes airer for hanging up wet outdoor gear, and we had loads of that! We did however have a wonderful time and are hoping to make a return visit late spring/early summer next year."

"Lovely cottage that was far better than the photos led us to expect. The cottage was clean and generally well equipped with plenty of comfy seating. The only thing missing was a microwave. Strachur is in a beautiful position and the local shops can provide any essentials. Overall we had a great holiday and would heartily recommend S85290."
    Carolyn – 29 May 2018
"A really lovely, cosy cottage set in a perfect location for seeing the area of Argyll and Bute. The cottage had plenty of room, the kitchen was well equipped, the beds were super comfortable and we felt like it was home from home. The dogs enjoyed the walks and some of the local restaurants were superb. To add to the overall enjoyment the weather was fantastic, all in all a lovely holiday!"

"We have just had a lovely week at S85290. It was freezing when we arrived but it very quickly warms up and the log fire at night is so cozy. The white sofas are the only thing I would change as there were a few stains and they do show the dirt. Odd thing like no microwave but it really didn’t matter. Beds are super comfortable! The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful. It’s remote but you can actually take a 15 minute walk to get to the Creggans Inn which was nice. We didn’t want to leave and would happily go back to that cottage again. Thank you."

"Great cottage , lovely village and local pubs . Could have done with more toilet roll as ran out on New Years Day ! Also , some hand wash in bathrooms . Gate bolt was difficult and cut hand on first day . Apart from that - thoroughly enjoyed stay ."
    Wendy – 4 Jan 2018
"The cottage is lovely but has ‘teething’ issues. Doors drag badly on carpets, needs cushions on the sofas, no microwave. Small things but need attention. Also I would question if this could be classed as dog friendly, it is all decorated in white and cream, including all the floors being painted! This made them quite slippy and scratched easily with dogs claws. The track to the cottage was very muddy and full of big holes but we were assured that this was to be remediated when the building of the damn for the hydro electric power plant was complete at the end of Jan 2018. We were ok with 4x4 but take care until remediation work confirmed. It is beautiful and peaceful but needs these little issues addressing before we would return."
