Sandy Brae Cottage sleeping up to 6 guests

Enjoy cliff-top walks, rugged caves and sea angling from Sandy Brae Cottage, a traditional detached fisherman’s cottage.
This traditional, detached fisherman’s cottage is located within 100 yards of the harbour of Findochty on the Moray Firth. Nearby is a small pier, where sea angling is possible throughout the year. There is depending on the tide, a small beach at the harbour, and a larger sandy beach within a few minutes’ walk. There are wonderful cliff-top walks, studded with caves, and a challenging 9-hole golf course to the west of the village. Whisky and castle trails are close by, and a boat trip to see the dolphins and seals is a must. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

    Peter – 23 Oct 2018
"Living room would be tight for 6 people, but for 4 or less it's fine. Well specified kitchen with a great range of appliances - washer drier especially useful. Some routine general maintenance needed as a few minor joinery jobs building up.Reviewed as a 9 because the boiler pressure had dropped into the red area; making it very likely that it would break down during our stay, and I had to fix it - this turned out to be much more difficult than just opening a tap, and this should be checked at every changeover.A comfortable home in a lovely unspoiled area - would definitely book again."

"lounge furniture uncomfortable and not adequate for more than 4 people, the letter box bangs all the time unless you put a paper in it, a shame because the rest of the cottage is fine and good value for the area. seals can be seen at the back of the golf course, local shop well equipped and Tesco 3miles away"
    Michael – 12 Sep 2018
"Very handy for the many local golf courses. Saw numerous seals at Portgordon. Lots of wonderful scenery around."
    BEDWELL – 13 Aug 2018
"Kitchen well equipped but also cluttered with stuff you didn't need, pots and pans in poor condition. Sofa in lounge not brilliant. Double bed mattress too soft and squishy, other beds fine. Shower in upstairs bathroom very powerful but did not stay in position as on pole despite loads of selotape!! Couldn't get shower in downstairs bathroom to work at all."
    Elaine – 19 Jun 2018
"I thought I had booked a cottage on the harbour, but could only see this when outside. The Admirals public house was very good, but I felt that the menu needed a few other items on it. Potatoes and pasta are not very good if you are suffering with diabetes. Salads only appeared on the side of the plate and not offered as a main meal. The cottage was very nice, but I felt that an Xpelar was needed in both bathrooms as there was no way the window would open in the downstairs bathroom, and even more important that air should be in the upstairs bathroom as it housed the boiler. The fire extinguisher in the kitchen was 2 years out of date and also was situated near the hob, and this was a hazard in itself as it was an aerosol. The boilers inspection was out of date according to the book in the cottage. There also is a problem with damp especially in the porch which was crumbling whilst I was there. I personally feel that Health and Safety would have a field day if an inspection was to take place. The dishwasher needs securing as it wobbles when trying to fill it."

"Lovely area. Cottage could be good; heating and showers excellent. Kitchen well equipped but hob (Lamona) absolute rubbish and should be replaced. Rusty oven trays and badly scratched non-stick pans simply should not be there."
    J – 28 May 2018
"Cottage was comfortable but furniture in living room could be better positioned an more comfortable couches Unfortunately the hob was not working but the oven was fine and the dishwasher and washing machine with dryer were suburb. Plus cleaning materials and soap etc were all provided which was a great bonus. Plus ironing board and iron and all equipment that you could could possibly need. Its a shame the external building is not being looked after better as there are cracks in the walls front and backgreat or adults"
    Martyn – 21 Apr 2018
"lovely position close to harbour and very friendly locals"
    Susie – 14 Apr 2018
"The cottage was perfect for us with our 12 year old and our 93yr old Mother in law. It was lovely to be so close to the sea and harbour, within easy walking distance of the pub which my mother in law could manage too. We loved being able to walk along the coast from the cottage and had some beautiful blue skies and sunshine. The area was great, quiet but lots of beautiful countryside and villages along the coast and everyone was really friendly and chatty. We loved driving through the snowy mountains too. Thanks for a lovely stay."
