About this property

Ty Mynydd is a wonderful holiday cottage tucked away in the picturesque Rhoscolyn. The cottage is located on a private estate overlooking a small lake which sees an abundance of wildlife.

The cottage is on one level and designed to bring in the lovely views of the lake, fields and the Snowdonia mountains in the distance. The cottage comes with a small annexe and sleeps two in a king size bed with underfloor heating and ensuite with large shower. There is also a TV and the basic essentials for cuppa!

In the main kitchen you are very well equipped with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, microwave and all the kitchen utensil for your catering needs. The washing machine is located in the hallway. This open plan living space has comfortable sofas and chairs.

The seating area leads onto the dining room with seating for six and a wonderful setting for any meal.

The main house has a double bedroom and a second room with bunks. As mentioned the annexe is a few short steps away with third bedroom.

The main bathroom has bath with shower over, loo and wash hand basin.

There are lovely lawned areas on the outside with ample parking and decked veranda to enjoy the evenings.

Located on Holy Island, three miles from Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn is a small village with a church and primary school and is the most southerly place on Holy Island. Rhoscolyn also offers an excellent pub on the lane down to the beach, which is renowned for its gastro food, and the beach itself with its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and power boats, is a popular family destination throughout the summer owing to the sheltered cove and gently sloping sands. Also excellent cliff-top walks can be enjoyed and an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals on the headland. Just two miles away is the village of Valley, which has a Post Office, chemist, shops and eating places, plus the nearby resort of Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of the island and is truly beautiful with a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine Blue Flag sandy beaches. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, supermarkets, harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. Watersports, bathing, sailing, windsurfing and horse riding are the main activities in the summer months, plus golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course, and the area is also a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse rspb Reserve. An excellent location with plenty to see and do!

RAF jets most definitely an added bonus for us and we loved to watch them. We stayed as a party of four with our dog (who loved the garden). My parents stayed in the main cottage, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Hubby and I stayed in the garden annex which was prefect for us and has its own TV and kettle. We had a problem with a blocked toilet in the cottage but when we reported this to Menai Cottages, it was dealt with promptly and efficiently and followed up with a phone call the next day to check the problem was rectified, which it was. The property is approximately 1 mile down an estate road/track and lovely and rural. Wild rabbits play and nibble the grass in the garden. Pheasants, finches and a variety of birds enjoyed the wild bird food we took with us and we enjoyed watching them. The property description could do with an update as there is no longer an estate shop and there is no signage from the main road for the Bodior Estate. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to this property and would recommend it for anyone wanting a peaceful break, with the novelty of RAF jets.

We had a beautiful Christmas (complete with complimentary decorations) . The directions to the cottage could be updated and made clearer as there is no sign on the main entrance to the estate from the road and the cottage is very off the beaten track. The beach is also not walkable from the rear of the cottage (enclosed farmland) so a car drive is required ( only 5 minutes though ) . A really lovely cottage .

We arrived in driving rain but felt immediately at home. Everything is just as it should be, the perfect holiday cottage for a total getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We didn't take dishwasher tablets with us or the absolute essentials such as sugar, salt, pepper, veg oil for cooking and the provision of these would be my only suggestion, as often they're there for general use in a holiday cottage. But I'm really clutching at straws - this cottage is divine and we can't wait to return. The owners are very lucky indeed to have such a lovely place. X
