The Mill Farmhouse sleeping up to 6 guests

Located in the village of Llandybie, this holiday property is an ideal base for exploring the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons.

Mill House is a double fronted, listed, detached stone farmhouse dating from c.1795-1805. It was formerly part of the Cawdor Estate and was purchased by the current owner’s father in the 1960’s. Mill farm has been in the family’s possession (firstly as tenants and latterly as owners) for over a hundred and fifty years. The house was modernised in the 1970’s when a number of original features were either removed or covered up. Now, all of these changes have been reversed during a very careful and painstaking restoration. These have included opening up the original fireplaces, repairing the sash windows, installing a new underfloor heating system, and upstairs, exposing the original wooden floor and stairs. Holidaymakers now have the opportunity to appreciate and enjoy this wonderful historic home and relax in the comfort of its elegant surroundings.

Llandybie lies at the western base of the Black Mountains and very close to the Brecon Beacons National Park. Legend has it that caves on Llandybie’s limestone crop are the resting place of Owain Lawgoch, the sleeping warrior. Today the village of Llandybie (meaning St Tybie’s church) offers every amenity including award-winning pubs and the holiday property is conveniently situated opposite the sleepy railway station (just four trains a day!) on the Heart of Wales line, so you can leave the car behind and see places of rugged beauty, tranquil villages, impressive viaducts and picturesque Victorian spa towns dotted along one of the most scenic lines in the UK.

The lovely town of Llandeilo lies just 6 miles away and offers an array of chic shops, cafes and restaurants as well as a renowned luxury chocolatier and ice cream maker. Dinefwr Castle is also within walking distance of the town.

Other nearby places of interest include Carreg Cennen Castle, the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney Gardens. You will be ideally situated to discover the long and sandy beaches of Carmarthenshire or the Gower Peninsula. The area has it all, castles, gardens, beaches, unique towns, varied landscapes and an overwhelming choice of outdoor activities, and S34749 is the perfect base from which to enjoy it. Shop 100 yards, pub and restaurant 75 yards.

    Ivano – 5 Nov 2018
"Beautiful cottage, very nice host. We had a fantastic break."
    Alex – 27 Oct 2018
"Loved it, so close to pop to local shop or walk to pub/café/takeaways even with our 3 year old, yet still in a beautiful rural location. So clean I thought we were the first guests to stay there! And the underfloor heating was gorgeous, as was the giant shower head. Never wanted to get out! Lovely garden for children to play in too. Would definitely stay here again!"
    Jacquie – 7 Oct 2018
"We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in this lovely renovated farmhouse."
    Debbie – 21 May 2018
"This is a beautifully renovated cottage with some quirky little features which we loved. It has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. Nice touch with the welcome bottle of wine and Welsh cakes and a very friendly and informative owner to greet you on arrival. It’s in a great location with the village only a 5 min walk away. Beautiful beaches, castles or Brecon Beacons all within a short drive for lovely days out. We had family come to visit and all celebrated the Royal wedding with Pimms and a cream tea in the garden which was great fun. We would stay here again and would highly recommend it."
    Sue – 8 May 2018
"The cottage is very well modernised and has a lovely atmosphere. The beds were fantastic and the sitting areas were also very comfortable. The kitchen is small but very functional and the bathroom nicely done. We had great weather so enjoyed sitting in the garden."
    Reuben – 4 Jan 2018
"Stayed at this beautifully renovate cottage for the Christmas break with two other couple friends. Lovely modern renovation and still feeling fresh. Warm welcome from Dylan, who has done a sterling job on the renovation.Nice touches are he underfloor heating downstairs which saves your toes from getting too cold. Ample facilities to sleep six as long as you’re happy to share a bathroom. Overall a fab stay and will definitely recommend to friends and family to stay here!"
