Gellirwydd Barn is a new, high spec conversion of a former stone barn on the owners' small stock farm, just outside the village of Cross Hands, some 7.5 miles north of Llanelli and within easy reach of the end of the M4. The barn provides quality accommodation, centrally placed for exploring several popular areas - Pembrey Forest and beach, the Gower Peninsula and the south east area of the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The Barn is spacious and contemporary, yet retaining some interesting features of the original building, including several exposed stone walls. The ground floor hall way leads to a twin room, adjacent bathroom and, with one step down, to the kitchen area. The smart fitted kitchen diner has a larger dining table and chairs, is well equipped, including fridge/freezer and dishwasher and has a door opening onto a decked area overlooking the garden. A full flight of stairs leads up from the hallway to the Kingsize bedroom with ensuite shower room and a shorter flight of 6 stairs takes you up to the living area. The living room has plenty of comfortable seating, a woodburning stove (logs supplied), Freeview TV and DVD player, iPod dock, books and games, and a dining table and four chairs. From the living room, there are patio doors opening onto a large deck, with steps down to patio and lawned gardens, all enclosed. On this level, with a further external door, there is also a cloakroom/WC and a utility room with fitted units, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a flight of stairs from the living room up to the two first floor double bedrooms, with sloping ceilings and some limited headroom, and a single bedroom with particularly restricted headroom, so best suited to a child. These three bedrooms share a family bathroom, with bath and separate shower cubicle. The Barn has oil-fired central heating, private parking adjacent, for several cars, and there is a shed for bike storage.

This is an excellent location for exploring the coast and countryside of Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Swansea, the Gower Peninsula and the Brecon Beacons, being rural, yet easily accessible, only 4.5 miles from the M4. It is 7.5 miles from Llanelli beach; other attractions in the Llanelli area include the Millennium Coastal Park, Wales Coast Path, National Cycle Route 4, National Wetlands Centre, Watersports Centre, Machynys golf course (several other golf courses within easy reach) and Sylen Lakes for coarse fishing. A little further west is Burry Port, with harbour and beach, then Pembrey Country Park with its 8 mile long sandy beach, woodlands, dry ski slope, adventure playground, segways, cycle hire, horseriding and more. Also nearby are Pembrey Motorsports Centre, Equestrian Centre and Ffos Las racecourse, 8 miles away, National Botanic Gardens, 7.5 miles. Mountain bikers have access to excellent routes in the Brecon Beacons, Afan Argoed (32 miles) and Brechfa Forest (22 miles).
