About this property

The Owl House has been marvellously converted to provide spacious and tasteful accommodation within the wondrous countryside of Powys, Mid Wales. Close to the charming town of Llanfyllin, the popular Lake Vyrnwy and the Snowdonia National Park, this is a high-quality base for large groups of friends and family to escape and get away from it all. Enter this tremendous, stone-built holiday home and be welcomed by the vibrant and characterful kitchen/diner, dotted with rustic wooden beams and exposed stonework which contrast beautifully with the colourful, modern kitchen appliances. The dining area enjoys views across the valley that come with the property. From here, step up a spiral staircase to a self-contained first floor area where you will find the heart-warming and social sitting room, the traditional exposed beams and sizeable corner leather sofa make this an ideal spot to put your feet up after an exhausting day of exploration. Heading back down to the ground floor will present you with three wonderfully decorated bedrooms, the double bunk room houses sturdy bunks, oversized at 6'6" long and 3ft wide, ideal for both adults and children, while the two super king-size rooms boast flexible zip/link beds, one of which comes with the added luxury of a stunning en-suite shower room. A family shower room also resides on this floor. A wooden staircase leads to the first floor revealing two further bedrooms dressed in an equally fabulous manner, up here you will also find a peaceful snug area with a range of books to keep you occupied. Miles of serene grounds surround The Owl House, with an excellent decking and a gravelled seating area enjoying idyllic stunning views of the undulating countryside that encompasses the property. The farm is 42 acres encompassing ancient woodland, a tree house and a stream and should you wish to make use of the farmland the owners simply request guests to sign a separate disclaimer regarding use of the land as required by the farms' insurers. This first-rate countryside retreat sits equidistant from the lovely town of Llanfyllin which offers a small selection of useful amenities, and the remarkable Lake Vyrnwy which offers much to do for those thrill seekers to enjoy. Groups seeking a brilliant base for some active exploits will be delighted to find a host of activity options in the surrounding area, from fishing and shooting, mountain biking and off-road motorcycling, to mountaineering and canoeing, perfect for a group holiday to relax and refresh. The wondrous Snowdonia National Park lies slightly further afield for those of you who appreciate breath-taking landscapes and a wealth of outdoor activities. 26 Miles away is the Pontcysyllte Viaduct, this world heritage site carries the Llangollen Canal across the River Dee, dating back to 1805 the steel and stone structure is a magnificent sight to behold. Experience the marvels of rural Wales with your family or a group holiday from this beautifully restored farm building, The Owl House.

The nearby town of Llanfyllin nestles deep in the scenic Cain Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and the Berwyn Mountains, offering a good selection of shops where you can buy all of your essentials. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with considerable architectural variety. Lake Vyrnwy, with its host of activities, including walking, sailing and cycling, and mountain backdrop of contrasting colours and fascinating nature reserve is well worth visiting.

I’d be hard pushed to find a more idyllic location - amazing, views, fields to walk the doggie and a stream for kids to play in. Total bliss. Lovely touches like a gluten free cake made especially for us and kids helping with the goats. If you need an unwind and precious time together then I’d highly recommend beautiful Owl House.

The cottage had everything you needed and was like home from home. We had a mixture of age groups the little ones loved exploring the outdoors while the older ones enjoyed playing family games in the evening around the large dining table. Overall we all had an amazing time and would highly recommend.
