Capel Fawnog Mawr sleeping up to 6 guests

Located in the hills between Harlech and Porthmadog, this holiday property is a wonderful base to discover the Snowdonia mountains and coast.
This delightful cottage, one of a pair, has many original features and lies in the hills between Harlech and Porthmadog. There are walks from the door into the hills, and it is only a short drive across the estuary to the famous Italianate village of Portmeirion, designed by Sir Clough Williams Ellis, or you can ride the little steam trains of the Ffestiniog Railway. Nearby is the former slate quarrying town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, now a mecca for adrenaline junkies with Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets in an underground slate cavern, and Zipworld Titan – the largest zip wire zone in the world. The Edward I castle (a unesco World Heritage Site) broods dramatically over the town of Harlech, which also has a superb sandy beach. Visit the Cambrian Coast down to Barmouth and beyond, whilst in the other direction the Lleyn Peninsula beckons with the seaside towns of Criccieth and Abersoch.

"Lovely warm welcome from friendly hosts, cottage clean, warm and comfortable. Wi if worked well, information available on cottage history, surrounding area and places to go. We were there for the Victorian Weekend on the railway and the cottage provided a good base."
    David – 30 Sep 2018
"Cottage was in a small hamlet with lots of nice walks and within easy travel distance of all local towns. . Owners were very hospitable. Only downside was the cleanliness overall which was not of a good standard. We spent first evening cleaning the bathroom."
    Michelle – 12 Sep 2018
"Fabulous cottage and great hosts. Thank you"
    Matthew – 4 Aug 2018
"Lovely little rural bolt hole from which to explore Snowdonia and the surrounding area. Really friendly local hosts and a beautifully kept garden full of life. Could do with a few bigger pans in the kitchen and some WiFi instructions. Although slightly pricy, we would definitely recommend."

"Comfortable and cosy cottage, where a warm welcome awaits. A pretty and tranquil location with stunning views from the hill behind the cottage."
    Atanasios – 8 Apr 2018
"Very nice place to stay. Quiet, in the midst of nature, yet only a few minutes drive from nice towns like Pothmadog and Harlech away. Interior was very good standard. Electric heaters kept the whole house nice and warm despite the cold outside. Just could not get a signal for my Vodafone mobile. But walking up the road 50 meters allowed me to make calls comfortably. A brilliant stay for my family of five plus dog."
    Christina – 3 Mar 2018
"A very comfortable cottage with a high standard of cleanliness and everything we needed for our 4 day break. Good location for visits to Harlech Castle, Badmouth and Portmadog."
    Zoe – 24 Feb 2018
"The perfect location for an active young family. The cottage is heavenly and the views from the walk at the back of the cottage are the best in any part of Snowdonia. The whole vista is there from Harlech Castle to Snowdon to the coast and Port Meirion. We've already reserved another week."
    Jo – 6 Jan 2018
"We stayed in the cottage over New Year. The owners had gone to the trouble of putting Christmas decorations up which was a lovely, festive touch. We were also welcomed with cake and wine. The cottage was tucked away at the end of a private drive which gave us total privacy. We enjoyed some fantastic walks with our dog around the beautiful countryside. The break left us feeling totally refreshed ready for 2018. Would definitely recommend."
