About this property

Built in just 2016, Villa Kopriva is a modern villa with a charmingly rustic ambience.

Set in the rural Istrian interior among the vibrant fields and forests, this villa offers luxurious accommodation for up to ten guests, with endless entertainment facilities on site!

Inside, the vast living room has a high vaulted ceiling and an enormous sofa for getting all the group together in style! In front of the couch is a large SAT TV and to one side is a traditional stone fireplace.

A large dining table sits alongside the living room in an inclusive, open plan style. The kitchen is equally spacious, with a large central island perfect for getting a couple of cooks involved in meal prep!

Head downstairs to the spacious basement where you’ll find the sauna and a shower, and in the games room alongside the sauna, you’ll even see a pool table and another SAT TV with a PlayStation 3 where you can start up a little healthy competition!

There are four great bedrooms, all of which are doubles. All four have a pleasing minimalist design, with rustic colour palettes and all three on the first floor have fabulous vaulted ceilings.

Each room is accompanied by a fabulous bathroom, all of which have a walk-in shower and two of which also have a delightful bathtub. Both the ground floor and one of the first-floor rooms enjoy access to the garden or terrace.

Outside in the garden, the centrepiece is the refreshing swimming pool, with a whirlpool bath to one end, equipped with hydro massage jets! Around the pool are plenty of sun loungers for soaking up all that Croatian sun!

And a large barbeque to one side, with an outdoor dining area on the veranda, ensure you can enjoy alfresco meals and indeed make the most of the ideal climate. All around the pool are play areas for the children, from a slide and swings to a trampoline, ensuring they can have just as much fun as you and all within sight for added peace of mind!

A casual seating area and both a table football and a table tennis set complete the sublime offerings of the garden. Just 40 minutes away from Učka Nature Park, a sprawling protected area with hiking routes leading to canyons, waterfalls and historic sites, you’ll find an unspoilt nature a stone’s throw away.

One-Third of the Istrian territory is forested, and the rest is carpeted with vineyards, olive trees, pastures and orchards, with ancient walled cities perched atop hills in the mountainous landscape, so you need merely stroll out of your front door to find the richness of Istria.

Villa Kopriva is ideally placed to enjoy the full offerings of Istria, located almost in the middle of it all! Around ten minutes south is the delightful town of Vodnjan, well worth a visit to learn a little of its history, with Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque influences, although more recently it has become more known for its many options for olive oil tasting.

A charming heart-shaped peninsula in the north-west of Croatia, Istria is warm, welcoming and perfectly-sized – you can drive the length in around an hour, putting everything within easy reach!

From breath-taking scenery, rich history and a world-famous culinary scene – you will find it all in Istria! As a former part of the Venetian Republic, this region has seen many rulers from the Romans, Byzantines and Austro-Hungarians to the Italians and Yugoslavians. Now, a myriad of enchanting towns and villages, rich in history and culture, are nestled among the undulating countryside.

Active holiday-makers will be delighted with the offerings: from windsurfing in Medulin to scuba diving in the Brijuni National park and rock climbing, hang-gliding and walking in Buzet along the 15km ‘seven waterfalls’ walk, Istria has it all.

Both along the dramatic coastal paths and in the mountains inland, you will find an abundance of natural paths for cycling (including the scenic Parenzana route over an old railway line from Viznada to the Slovenian border) and rugged off-road hiking trails. Pick up a trail-map from any of the Tourist Offices, for loads of well-marked routes around the coast and in the Cape Kamenjak.

Much like its neighbouring Italy, Istria is a gastronome’s paradise, home to world-class cuisine and endless rows of vineyards. Be sure to try the local wines, which are often sweet and fruity, using a wide variety of grapes including white Malvasia, red Terrano and Moscato.

Istria is especially famous for its truffles, which you will find served with any dish and sauce! Truffle flavoured olive oil is a typical product of the region, and indeed, you will hardly find a village which does not have its own Olive oil ‘supermarket’!

Unlike the rest of Croatia, Istrian food tends to be light and heavily influenced by its Italian neighbours. Generally, pasta, gnocchi, risotto and polenta accompany each meal, while the coastal areas specialise in a fantastic array of seafood, including scampi, squid and sole and inland it is more common to find prosciutto, or ‘pršut’, and sausages.

Both Rijeka and Pula have international airports within a short drive of the villa, while Pula is the central hub for those getting ferries, although there is a daily ferry between Poreč and Venice.
