  We found Ty Hir a comfortable place to stay with all the necessities for a relaxing break.

  The single track up to the barn which is adjacent to the owners home is a little daunting on first go, but soon becomes less so. It feels like you are in top of the world when you reach the accomodation and the views are amazing! Nb the direct view from the living room is disappointing but to each side, beautiful. If it were my place I'd swap the dresser for a comfy couch to sit with morning coffee and take in the view of Cnicht. We had a slight problem with the electricity supply on the first evening and morning but the owners were on hand for the weekend and were very friendly, approachable and helpful. It was sorted before we left. There is a private working farm next to the accomodation and the farmers there were very friendly. I would say this is probably not the best a property for people with mobility limitations as the parking outside the property is on quite rough, uneven ground. There is a short gentle sloping path from the gate to the accomodation.

  The property was well maintained and very well equipped.

  The kitchen had lots of crockery, cutlery and pots and pans and the cooker/microwave were easy to use. The double fridge was useful, but it was a surprise not to have this switched on for our arrival. Additional bedding and utensils were available, though we did not need them. Having a separate lounge and dining room was good. There was little storage space in the bedrooms, but this was not a major drawback. Overall, we really enjoyed the property. The location was great (very scenic if isolated) and the rough track up to the property was not as bad as we had feared. We would happily return to this property. A welcome pack was waiting (including eggs and bread and Welsh cakes) for us and we had no problems throughout the stay.

  The standard of cleaning was not as expected.

  There was cobwebs and dust everywhere on arrival and no hoover to clean up the rugs. The layout of the living space is odd and it would better to swap the dresser and table so that there was space to move the settee away from the cooker. We appreciate that it's on a working farm, but having sheepdogs kennelled outside the bedroom window that bark and howl from first light in the summer was disruptive. There needs to be more usable, newer crockery, glasses and cutlery, there was only one chopping board and baking tray! The mattresses were really comfortable but the bed frames need attention as parts are broken and they squeak. Outdoor seating would be a good addition. The owner dealt with the tv and broadband outage promptly.

  The property is beautiful with great location, views and appointments but there are drawbacks.

  The access track should be either improved or stated on the listing as more suitable for 4x4s as having had a lot of rain both our cars scraped undersides when using the track. The property is listed as no pets but there was significant black dog hairs. My grandson had to go to Porthmadog for medical care and steroid/inhaler prescription. Push/pull in bathroom temperamental despite being reported in the visitor book previously. Saucepans had to be thoroughly cleaned before use. That said the quality of fittings and location are great. The beds and bedding are lovely and comfortable. The bathrooms spotless and the welcome pack very nice. A vacuum cleaner would have helped us keep on top of day to day cleanliness.

  The Boathouse was absolutely amazing with breathtaking views. The property was perfect in every way. It was beautifully decorated and well equipped with high quality furniture and equipment in the kitchen.The property was very comfortable with lots of room for everyone. We loved every minute of our stay with our children and grandchildren. Fantastic memories have been made here The location was fantastic round the corner from all the amenities. The host Wales Cottage Holidays and Jane were both very good communicating with me, I fully recommend you to book with them. I would love to come back here and recommend it to all my friends and families. Thank you for a wonderful break at the Boathouse.
