If you are planning your summer holiday to Italy but wish to visit somewhere different and off the usual tourist trails, why not try Elba? This beautiful island is packed with historical attractions, pristine beaches, and countless hiking routes, so you will have plenty to keep you busy during your stay. While on Elba, Lacona village, with its great range of amenities and beaches, is the perfect base, and this is where you will find Villa Euridice, set just 1.5km away from the centre of the village.
This charming home has been in the owner’s family for many generations and has recently undergone a full renovation to bring it up to date. Care has been taken to preserve the historic feel of the house while adding modern furnishings and facilities such as Wi-Fi, Smart TVs and air conditioning. The home enjoys an idyllic setting on the leafy hillside, and each room looks out over the oasis-like garden which envelops the villa.
There is a spacious living room furnished with a dining table, a large sofa, armchairs, a TV and a fireplace, and it opens out onto the garden; this room is a beautiful space for your group to gather for drinks as the sun sets. The kitchen is bright, large and equipped with everything you need to cook delicious meals.
Villa Euridice has five bedrooms, so it has abundant space to sleep a large group of friends or host your family summer holiday. Three double bedrooms are available; each room is decorated in neutral tones with a pop of colour from pretty wallpaper. There are two more bedrooms; one has two single beds, and the other has three. If you need to accommodate another person, a sofa bed can be added to one of the other bedrooms meaning 12 guests can stay here. Four contemporary bathrooms serve the bedrooms.
As well as having lovely interiors, the villa sits in a 4000m2 landscaped and fenced garden. On each side of the home is a large covered veranda where you can shelter during the day's heat; these have dining tables and comfortable outdoor sofas, and a barbecue. Aside from the terraces, the garden offers lawns, established trees and an inviting private swimming pool.
You do not have to travel far to find the nearest amenities as the closest restaurants are just an 800m stroll away from the villa. The centre of Lacona village is also just 1.5km away. In the village, you will find a pristine, sandy beach which is the second largest on the whole island and is lined with pizzerias, trattorias and bars.
When you wish to see more of the island, there is plenty for you to discover. The easiest way to access the island is via ferry from the town of Piombino. It is possible to drive across the island in around 90 minutes, so it is a manageable size. Portoferraio, the island’s capital, is just 7.5km away, while there is a quaint and picturesque village called Porto Azzurro, which you could visit just 10km away.
Villa Euridice is ideally located for getting to know the incredible island of Elba. With beautiful beaches, postcard-worthy villages and many hiking and walking trails, Elba is a hidden gem with something for everyone.
Lacona Beach is the closest beach to the home, one of the longest and best on the island. Just 1.5km from the villa, the beach can be reached within a short drive, so it is easy to reach. After a day at the beach, you may not feel like cooking and will be pleased to know that there are a range of eateries dotted around the bay. Whether you are looking for quick snacks or a traditional Italian meal, you can find it near the villa. Another popular option is the gorgeous La Biodola Beach, 11km away. Alternatively, you could spend the day at Shipwreck Beach, 23km away. As you may have guessed from the name, this beach is well known for its sunken ship, which snorkellers can see easily!
Portoferraio, the island's capital, is another great place to visit, just 7.5km away. This is where the ferries come in from the mainland, so you will see the town as you arrive. The bustling port is a hive of activity, with tourists and locals coming and going by boat. Portoferraio also has some fabulous beaches for you to discover. Heading into the town, you can visit some of the island’s best-loved attractions, including the sumptuously decorated theatre, the Teatro dei Vigilanti, the Medici fortress and a former convent.
The island of Elba is famous for being the home of Napolean during a period of exile, and while in town, you can visit two of the homes he constructed here; one of these is now a museum, while the other is more rurally situated and has lovely gardens to stroll around. Napolean ruled over the island and brought about many significant improvements, which is why you will see so many exhibitions and mentions of him as you travel around Elba. As well as the cultural attractions, Portoferraio has a wealth of brilliant restaurants, such as the elegant Civico TreUnoTre and bars, such as the Teatro Bistro and Wine bar, where you can sample the local Tuscan wines.
If you love spending time in nature, Villa Euridice is also well-positioned for spending days outdoors on the island of Elba, which is part of the protected National Park. You can spend an afternoon soaking in the Thermal Baths Of San Giovanni, which are 5.5km away or perhaps you would prefer to lace up your hiking boots and set off on one of the many scenic trails available on your doorstep.

We spent a fabulous time in this beautiful house! Everything seems even bigger in reality than in the photos. The house is lovingly and tastefully prepared. The large garden is a dream - with wonderful trees and gorgeous pool. On the terrace you can eat with a beautiful view of the garden. The owners were always available and very friendly. We had a very relaxing time there, thank you!
