About this property

Nestled within a serene community and conveniently close to sandy beaches, this villa is the delightful outcome of a beautifully transformed farm worker's cottage, positioned just on the outskirts of Apulia's charming old fishing village. It is enveloped by verdant pine forests that lend a lush backdrop. The villa's interiors exude comfort, are equipped comprehensively, and feature a spacious covered barbecue area perfect for enjoying meals outdoors. The meticulously tended gardens are a testament to care, and a short 3-minute stroll leads guests to a woodland picnic spot.

An idyllic vacation is assured in this rural yet well-situated locale amidst agricultural fields, olive groves, and vineyards (where the renowned Vinho Verde can be sampled!). Roman-inspired delights await in the nearby town of Barcelos, adding a cultural touch to the Minho region retreat.

The ground floor hosts a fully fitted kitchen, a living/dining room with plush seating, satellite TV, and a music centre. A guest toilet, complete with a shower, adds convenience. Ascend the staircase to find a master double bedroom boasting an ensuite shower room. Additionally, there are two more bedrooms, each with a double bed. These share an adjacent shower room.

Outdoors, the villa boasts an inviting barbecue terrace, a prime setting for open-air dining. Well-kept lawns embrace the poolside area, and the pool itself (measuring 8 x 4 meters) offers depths ranging from 0.85 to 1.80 meters. A refreshing poolside shower adds to the convenience. For practicality, a laundry room housing a washing machine is at your service.

Enveloped in vineyards and rolling hills of green, Villa Anabela is located in the exquisite Barcelos area of the Minho province, famous for its delicious wines. Just 15 minutes from Barcelos city, you are perfectly located to enjoy the quaint communities, local culture and the slow pace of life of rural Portugal. The town of Braga, the capital of the district, is about 25 minutes away and hosts many relics of the region’s diverse history.

The thriving town of Porto is about a 40-minute drive away and is a unesco World Heritage city, built along the hills overlooking the Douro river estuary, with a busy historical and commercial centre. Porto is of course famous for its eponymous Port wine, a 40% sweet, fortified wine, and you can enjoy many a port tour and we would highly recommend a visit to the various wine caves, both of which are thoroughly affordable and excellent value.

Minho is a fantastic, largely rural region on the northernmost Atlantic tip of Portugal, bordering the Spanish region of Galiza, with which it shares many attributes. Minho is perhaps most famous as the home of the Vinho Verde, a crisp, dry white wine (although as the name suggests, it is in fact green!) best enjoyed with a local fish dish.

Portugal itself is a small, fascinating country at the most Western point of mainland Europe. The capital, Lisbon, is known for its lively nightlife, with endless bars and clubs full of fun-loving locals and tourists alike, but also has plenty of fascinating history (check out Belém, jam-packed with monuments!) and undulating terrain, famously termed the ‘city of the seven hills’. From Lisbon, it is very quick to travel by the domestic high-speed train line to the city of Braga, which will connect you fairly quickly to Villa Anabela.

With a vast coastline with the powerful Atlantic Ocean, Portugal is a true paradise for the keen surfer, or indeed even those looking to try if for the first time. And for those less keen on surfing, the beaches of Portugal are still well worth a visit for their beautifully clear waters and fine sands.

Really lovely little villa, exceeded our expectations! Also it does have air con in the bedrooms (although not needed much).
