About this property

Greenview Cottage is an exquisite Grade II listed property in the heart of the picturesque village of Little Barrington.

The cottage is a wonderful retreat for a gathering of friends or a family who are seeking an ideal base for exploring the Cotswold region.

Two allocated parking spaces welcome you on arrival, so you can unload your luggage straight in through the front door and into the stylish and neutrally decorated kitchen/diner, which provides a wonderful, sociable space for you and your loved ones to rustle up heart-warming meals making use of the contemporary appliances, before you uncork a bottle of wine and gather around the extendable wooden dining table to tuck into your meal.

After dinner, retreat into the charming sitting room, which boasts exposed beams, stone mullion windows and a gorgeous grandfather clock; sink into the welcoming sofas and watch a great film on the Smart TV, as the cosy woodburning stove that sits within the quaint inglenook fireplace keeps you toasty on a cold evening.

For some peace and quiet away from the group, grab yourself a compelling novel from the selection on offer in the library, and get lost amongst the pages of it, sat in the lovely armchair.

You will be happy to see that there is a washing machine and tumble dryer situated in the utility room on the lower-ground-floor.

A staircase in the sitting room leads you up to a mid-level landing, where a cloakroom rests, and further upstairs are two homely bedrooms and the bathroom. The master is a beautiful, elegant room, with a four-poster king-size bed, a dressing room and an en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bath, the second bedroom is a delightful, spacious, king-size room.

The family bathroom is beautifully styled, containing a bath with hand-held shower and well as a large walk-in rain shower.

A steep staircase leads up to two further tastefully decorated bedrooms in the eaves; a twin and a double (available on request), which share hanging space hidden behind a curtain recess.

Outside, there is a tiered courtyard garden with an outdoor table set and a charcoal barbecue, perfect for alfresco dining when the weather allows! At the front of the cottage there is a delightful sloped garden which overlooks the pretty village green.

Explore your local surroundings by taking a stroll around Little Barrington, where you will find the village green just outside your doorstep and an award-winning village pub, The Fox Inn, which is a fantastic place to eat resting alongside the River Windrush, to give you a break from the kitchen!

Surrounded by the breath-taking scenery of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are many walks and cycle routes to explore, including the Sherborne short woodland walk from Ewe Pen Barn, a National Trust owned, short, easy trail with lots of wildlife to see and is especially spectacular in autumn when the Beech Avenue glistens in copper and gold.

Popular attractions including the Cotswold Wildlife Park in Burford, and Birdland Park and Gardens in Bourton-on-the-Water are a great day out for all the family. Considered the southern gateway to the Cotswolds, Burford’s High Street descends from the high Wolds down to the River Windrush, offering stunning views across the valley.

Be sure to make a visit to the market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, offering exceptional views, sat at nearly 800ft above sea level, with an array of attractions, shops and pubs for you to explore.

For a marvelous holiday spent in the stunning Cotswolds, stay at Greenview Cottage.

Burford is possibly one of, if not THE most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located mid way between Oxford and Cheltenham (25 mins each away) it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit.

The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits!

With little changing over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all with 25 minutes from the property.
