About this property

Rio Vista is a stylish ground-floor holiday home, set in the village of Brantham, Suffolk. With five bedrooms that sleep up to nine guests, this cottage is the ideal venue for groups of friends looking for a luxurious weekend in Suffolk. Relax with friends in the chic sitting room, as you catch-up on the sofas and enjoy the views of the countryside from the large patio doors. In the winter months, turn on the gas fire and warm yourselves up as you’re transported to another world whilst watching a movie on the TV. Come together in the fully-fitted kitchen to prepare a mouth-watering group meal that can be enjoyed with drinks at the dining room table. Once the plates have been cleared from the table and placed in the dishwasher, taking the hassle out of cleaning up, entertain each other with both board and card games, before getting into your bathing suits and reconvening outside for a dip in the hot tub. As the night draws to a close, make your way inside and saunter to your bedroom for the evening. If you’re in need of a little time to yourself, be sure to stay in the single bedroom where you can wind-down in the afternoon by curling up in the armchair with a book before drifting off for an afternoon nap, as well as providing the perfect place to settle down in the evenings. There are also two twin bedrooms to choose from and a double bedroom, as well as a spacious master bedroom featuring a large king-size bed and en-suite bathroom where you can pamper yourself with a soak in the bathtub. As you wake the following morning, take your time to get ready for the day ahead and enjoy an invigorating shower in the family shower room. During the summer, dine outdoors in the spacious garden whilst basking in the sunshine. Brantham village has a small village shop (Co-op) which is open daily. Larger shops/supermarkets can be found at Manningtree, Ipswich and Colchester. The Brantham Bull pub, a historic inn dating from the 16th century, is a few minutes walk away from the cottage, and is open daily apart from Mondays, with a restaurant serving good food plus a large garden ideal in summer. There are plenty of footpaths around the village, many leading down to the river where the estuary mudflats attracts numerous wading birds. The artist John Constable, who was born and lived in the neighbouring village of East Bergholt, spent much of his life painting this tranquil landscape which continues to draw painters, photographers and writers to live and work here today. Take a trip to Alton Water, a large reservoir, with nature trails, cycle hire, sailing and footpaths. Jimmy’s Farm, owned and run by Jamie Oliver’s friend Jimmy Doherty, is off the A137 to Ipswich at Wherstead. Just two miles away is Manningtree, reputed to be England’s smallest town, and contains a number of local shops and good restaurants. The property lies equidistant between the towns of Ipswich and Colchester, with Colchester famed for its Norman Castle, Roman remains and zoo and Ipswich for its historic centre, Christchurch Mansion and its revitalized waterfront and docks area. Inbetween and further afield are many picturesque villages typical of south Suffolk and north Essex, with pastel coloured houses, historic churches and beautiful countryside. For a luxurious break with friends, stay at Rio Vista.

Brantham is a lively village nestled in Suffolk, East Anglia. With neighbouring towns such as Manningtree and Ipswitch just a short drive away, there are an abundance of places to eat, drink and shop in the area. Head to Alton Water to enjoy a day of watersporting and cycling or stop by the town of Mistley to see the Mistley Towers or Old Knobbley, an ancient oak tree said to have sheltered many witches during the witch hunts of the 17th century.
