About this property

This lovely ground-floor flat, Carlton House Apartment 1, is located in the heart of the Lake District National Park in the popular town of Keswick. This holiday apartment is a perfect base from which to explore the multitude of wonders the Lakes have to offer, with neutral décor and a Smart TV and all the equipment you may need for a self-catering stay. When you arrive, walk two steps up into the building before entering the apartment; after a long corridor to the end, the sitting room beckons you to kick back and relax with a movie. As you get hungry, head to the kitchen/diner to prepare your meal; a convenient dishwasher rounds out the room, making it easier to clean up after a meal at the table. Rest up before a day of walking in one of two bedrooms, one king-size and one twin, before waking up to a refreshing shower or lengthy soak to start the day. Start your day with a delicious breakfast before strolling about Hope Park or, for the hikers in your group, exploring the neighbouring hills; on a clear day, you can even see Skiddaw from the apartment! Nearby, Derwent Water offers a variety of watersports activities, while Puzzling Place offers a mind-bending experience and Keswick Museum offers a taste of local history. Heading south, the quirky town of Ambleside provides for a sweet day out, with a fantastic range of pubs and eateries to enjoy, as well as Rydal Cave en-route and the northern point of Lake Windermere within walking distance. The National Trust's Wray Castle and Hill Top, as well as numerous walking and cycling paths and lovely towns and villages, ensure that you will not be bored. Choose Carlton House Apartment 1 for your next Cumbrian getaway.

Keswick, the holiday hub of the North Lake District, has lots to offer visitors year-round. The town has many shops and restaurants for all tastes, miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, and the Pencil Museum. Derwentwater, the stunning lake at the head of Borrowdale Valley, is only a short walk from the town centre. The Lake District Wildlife Park, kid-friendly attractions, and beautiful parks make this a great Lakeland trip year-round.

We had a brilliant week- a great base to explore Keswick and beyond. A few little things need resolved in the apartment- multiple lights out in the kitchen, the light and fan above cooker not working and the clock out of battery. Not big things that impacted our stay at all but stuff that you notice- no spare lights in kitchen cupboard as stated in welcome book either. The bathroom also has some black mould which could do with being removed. Only other comment that can’t necessarily be easily resolved is the lack of soundproofing from the apartment directly above- when the family above us moved around it sounded like they were in our apartment and we could hear their conversations loud and clear! We were out most of the day but it wasn’t ideal later at night (or the morning they got up at 5am!!).

Beds very comfortable but both sofas uncomfortable which was a bit disappointing and the only thing that let the apartment down a bit. Would be good to have a shower attachment in the bath especially as there was an outlet for one to be fitted. Would also be good to have blinds or voiles in the living room windows but these are minor personal prefences and overall very happy with our stay.

On occasion we couldn't use our space in car park due to event in the Church which was inconvenient.
