There are many wonderful walks from the doorstep, and it is a good location from which to tour this magical part of the Lake District by car. It lies approximately seven miles from the bustling market towns of Cockermouth and Keswick.
Walk into the main entrance to discover a sensational open concept space with dramatic A frame oak ceiling beams, stone tiled flooring and ingeniously positioned windows giving the room lots of natural light and lovely countryside views from every part of the room. At one end of the room you will find a large and stylish lounge area with comfortable sofas, attractively positioned around the hanging fire-orb wood burning stove. Go to the other end of the room to admire your welcoming dining area with a large oak table, before taking two steps down into the modern kitchen area with stylish units finished in walnut veneer, electric Aga, solid worktops and top-quality appliances. Open the impressive bi-fold door to relax on the patio and enjoy the tranquil countryside all around you. You will also find a cloakroom with a shower on this level.
On the ground floor you will find three large and beautifully presented bedrooms: a master bedroom with super king-size bed and en-suite curved shower enclosure with power shower. The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.
