The charming village of Threlkeld is just to the east of Keswick in the Northern Lakes. The steep sided Blencathra looms over Threlkeld village, a popular starting point for walking the mountain. Threlkeld's history reaches back more than 800 years; the Romans were here from the 3rd to the 8th century, followed later by the Norse. In the village the church dates back to 1578 and there are two pubs that first opened their doors in 1688.Though only a few miles outside Keswick, the village is tranquil and unspoilt with great views of Blencathra and the Helvellyn range.

A lovely place to come back to after a long days walk. The scones and bottle of wine was a lovely touch on our arrival and we really enjoyed our week there. We will defiantly being going again.

The cottage was a very warm and cosy place to come back to especially after a day out walking in the rain, which unfortunately was most days during our time here. Coming back here after a long, wet day out was definitely one of the highlights of our time in the Lake District, amongst the incredible scenery! The cottage had everything we needed, was very spacious and had a very well equipped kitchen. The beds were super comfy and the cottage is surrounded by the most beautiful views. We spent many mornings admiring all the different varieties of small birds feeding from the bird table in front of the kitchen window. An absolute delight. If you want peace and quiet this cottage is perfect. It is also very conveniently located, only a short drive away from many wonderful places, and an 8 minute drive from Keswick. Thank you to Sue & Eric who were lovely hosts and very attentive. I'm sure we will be back again at some point in the future!
